    Posting Description

POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Center for Sustainability Science & Strategy, to join an international team of experimentalists and theoreticians in the Advanced Global Atmospheric Gases Experiment (AGAGE) and a large atmospheric chemistry group at MIT. The work will focus on interpretation of AGAGE observations of greenhouse and ozone-depleting gases using models, measurements, and inverse methods. The general goals are to determine emissions, transport rates and mechanisms, loss rates and mechanisms, ozone depletion, and radiative forcing by these gases at sub-national to global levels. The work will apply state-of-the-art three-dimensional atmospheric chemistry and circulation models, together with advanced statistical techniques (optimal Bayesian, Markov Chain-MonteCarlo, etc.) to solve the forward and inverse problems involved. Additional information about AGAGE, CS3, and MIT Atmospheric Chemistry, is available at https://agage.mit.edu, https://cs3.mit.edu, and https://rprinn.mit.edu.

    Job Requirements

REQUIRED: PhD. in atmospheric physics and chemistry or a closely related field and significant experience in three-dimensional atmospheric chemical transport modeling. PREFERRED: Experience using these models together with observations to optimally estimate trace gas sources and sinks (i.e., inverse modeling).

Qualified scientists are also asked to send a CV, a brief statement of research interests and three letters of recommendation to Professor Ronald G. Prinn ([email protected]) and Dr. Luke Western ([email protected]), CS3, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
