DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs functions to conduct professional analysis, project management, monitoring and reporting with the goal of improving Houston Public Work’s warehouse operations to include, but not limited to:
+ Collecting and analyzing data to monitor performance against targets, trends, and best practices and recommend improvements in operations.
+ Conducting market research for existing and new contracts, developing specifications, and contract development for warehouse materials.
+ Usage analysis for warehouse materials to include monitoring inventory turn, aging, and obsolescence.
+ Analyzing and monitoring warehouse items issued to end-user’s budgets identifying efficiencies and cost reduction.
+ Developing and maintaining an online catalog for warehouse materials.
+ Preparing, editing, and revising branch policies and procedure manuals.
+ Performing other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
There are no major sources of discomfort, essentially a normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditioning. The individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.
This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance or a field closely related to the job.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Six (6) years of professional experience in accounting, budget analysis, finance, public administration or a field closely related to the job are required.
Substitutions: Experience cannot be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree requirement. A Master’s degree in a field directly related to the job may substitute for two years of the above experience requirement.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
None.
PREFERENCES
Preference will be given to applicants with experience in the following:
+ Proficiency in SAP experience
+ Proficiently in MS Excel proficiency
+ High level of organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
+ Detail Oriented
+ Innovative problem-solving skills
+ Has a valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving.
Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
