    About the role

     

    This is a half-country manager role, Leading our teams of E&S specialty Underwriters in the Midwest, South Central and Western Zone, to set strategy, to drive broker engagement and ensure the profitable growth of this critical portfolio

    What you need to know:

    + Working in collaboration with the Head of Casualty; set and determine portfolio strategies for all applicable classes of E&S Casualty to ensure we achieve our desired profitability margin, whilst building product that creates value for our core Wholesale brokers

    + Develop talent acquisition strategy to ensure the best talent is in place to underwrite risks within your territories.

    + Develop and maintain deep relationships with Senior Wholesale Casualty broker leaders at our Tier 1 and Tier 2 broker partners

    + Through your relationship influence with our Wholesalers, drive in-appetite submission volumes to support growth goals and efficient conversion ratios

    + Collaborate with our Casualty CUO office and claims leadership on appetite parameters, expanding and adjusting as necessary.

    + Work in constant coordination and collaboration with the other Lex Casualty underwriting manager to support Lexington’s broader priorities

    + Participate in critical industry events and conferences including thought leadership engagements as required.

    What we’re looking for:

    + Minimum 12+ years' experience in Commercial Casualty E&S underwriting.

    + The candidate must have the ability to underwrite Casualty risks across the spectrum of E&S Casualty business while setting direction for your team and maintaining a balanced portfolio across both primary and excess placements.

    + Position requires ability to underwrite 100%, primary/shared and layered, and excess structures.

    + A strong understanding of current market conditions, ability to quickly make decisions and turn around quotes and manage multiple prospects at one time are essential.

    + Strong leadership skills to include career development of direct reports and other subordinates through continual coaching and mentoring

    + As a member of the senior leadership within Lexington, take on responsibilities beyond everyday management and underwriting, including mentoring, collaboration across business divisions and driving a diverse and inclusive culture.

    + Must be able to work with regional Casualty leadership in order to continue to build a nationally renowned team and culture for Lexington.

    + Post-graduate education helpful, either through formal university setting or industry-recognized certifications
