Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM) / Cybersecurity Analyst
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly qualified PPSM / Cybersecurity Analyst with experience in Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM), boundary defense, and RMF-driven cybersecurity compliance. The qualified candidate will ensure secure implementation of mission-essential services across DoD networks and provide risk-aligned recommendations that balance operational requirements with security posture at USTRANSCOM.
Key Responsibilities
+ Develop, review, and process NIPRNet, SIPRNet PPSM registration requests (PPSR) for mission systems in alignment with DoDI 8551.01 and the DoD PPSM Registry.
+ Analyze and validate NIPRNet, SIPRNet ports, protocols, and services (PPS) requests to ensure compliance with DoD guidance, STIGs, and PPSM Baseline requirements.
+ Collaborate with boundary protection teams (firewall, IDS/IPS, cross-domain solutions) to enforce PPSM-approved rulesets.
+ Provide PPSM expertise with Risk Management Framework (RMF) documentation, including System Security Plans (SSPs), Security Assessment Reports (SARs), Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms) and PPSM Port Scan Reviews.
+ Conduct risk analysis on requested PPS, providing recommendations and mitigations to system owners and Authorizing Officials (AOs).
+ Assist with security control implementation for SC-7 (Boundary Protection), CM-7 (Least Functionality), and AC-4 (Information Flow Enforcement).
+ Process PPSM designated Risk Management Framework (RMF) eMASS packages to include Authority to Operate (ATO), Extension/Completion Requests and Interim Authority to Test (IATT).
+ Maintain situational awareness of emerging vulnerabilities, threat intelligence, and DoD cyber policies related to PPS.
+ Review and validated NIPRNet, SIPRNet Boundary Exception Requests (BERs)
+ Perform evaluations in support of Information Technology Investment Reviews (ITIRs)
+ Conduct Teams and in-person PPS related meetings with internal and external customers.
Required Qualifications
+ Must have Active DoD Secret clearance
+ 5+ years of cybersecurity experience, including at least 2 years working directly with PPSM.
+ Familiarity with DoDI 8551.01, CJCSI 6211.02D, DISA PPSM Registry, and STIGs.
+ Demonstrated experience supporting RMF Step 2–6 activities (control selection through continuous monitoring).
+ Strong knowledge of TCP/UDP services, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and boundary defense architectures.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with system owners, engineers, and AOs.
Preferred Qualifications
+ DoD 8140 IAT Level III certification (e.g., Security+, CySA+, SecurityX [formally CASP+], CISM ,CISSP, GSLC or GSNA).
+ Experience authoring PPSM Analysis Matrices or similar risk-alignment documentation.
+ Background with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), ACAS scanning, or similar compliance tools.
+ Hands-on experience in system hardening, boundary protection engineering, or firewall rule validation.
+ Previous work on DoD network environments such as NIPRNet, SIPRNet, or cross-domain solutions
