The University of Miami Health System, "UHealth", IT Department, has an exciting opportunity for a Full-time Director, Epic Applications - Revenue Integrity.
The Director, Epic Applications - Central (H) manages projects with support staff by giving them a clear understanding of the departmental mission and supervises and participates in work efforts in the design, development, testing, implementation, and ongoing support of the application. The Director, Epic Applications - Central (H) utilizes solid knowledge of hospital quality measures and clinical experience to build, develop, and test clinical applications in alignment with clinical practice and provide analysis on upcoming regulatory requirements. The incumbent works closely with various leaders to ensure technology is driven by clinical and operational needs and aligns with compliant and safe clinical practices and quality requirements.
Core Responsibilities:
+ Supervises the performance management of all assigned staff including making decisions as they pertain to hiring, training, evaluation, promotion, and termination.
+ Manages daily operations and directs staff to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
+ Assumes responsibility for campus-wide initiatives involving computer support services.
+ Develops, promotes, and maintains standards as they relate to technical support services and devices, including manufacturing and architectural standards.
+ Designs improved work systems by revising work standards, policies, and procedures.
+ Directs and manages project plan development, risk assessment, communications, budget tracking, status reporting, vendor management, and successful project completion.
+ Monitors project prioritization, active projects, and the development of dashboard and reporting mechanisms.
+ Assumes responsibility for enterprise-wide IT projects and ensures an efficient and timely conclusion.
+ Contributes to the strategic plan and assists in providing short- and long-term solutions to help meet campus-wide strategic and tactical planning initiatives.
+ Communicates with administration and staff regarding the efficient and timely delivery of services.
+ Performs follow-up investigations on inquiries, complaints, and problems.
+ Assists in the determination of critical milestones.
+ Establishes departmental goals and objectives, identifies areas of improvement, and implements action plans to meet these. Seeks ways to improve operations and oversees the preparation of productivity reports.
+ Attends professional meetings, workshops, conferences, and seminars to keep abreast of technological market advancements.
+ Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
Department Specific Functions:
The Director of Revenue Integrity Systems is responsible for leading the strategic oversight, development, and optimization of systems and processes that ensure accurate , compliant, and efficient revenue capture across the organization. This role bridges clinical, financial, and IT domains to safeguard revenue integrity through data-driven insights, system enhancements, and cross-functional collaboration.
This position will oversee the implementation and maintenance of revenue cycle technologies, including charge capture, coding, billing, and reimbursement systems. They will work closely with stakeholders in finance, compliance, IT, and clinical operations to identify revenue leakage, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement in revenue cycle performance.
The Director plays a pivotal role in ensuring revenue integrity through: trend reporting and claims analysis, development of payor scorecards, Charge Description Master (CDM) reviews, including impact analysis on all charge, revenue, and CPT code changes, and financial modeling to drive revenue improvement. The director must proactively identify organizational needs and design innovative solutions using expert technical and industry knowledge. Staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies is essential to support strategic goals.
+ Develop and execute the revenue integrity systems strategy aligned with organizational goals.
+ Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve revenue cycle performance and reduce leakage across clinical operations, financial operations, and revenue cycle management.
+ Serve as a subject matter expert on revenue integrity systems and best practices.
+ Collaborate with IT and revenue cycle teams to optimize Epic modules (Resolute HB/PB, Charge Router, Clarity) for accurate charge capture, billing workflows, and reimbursement.
+ Partner with Epic analysts and application teams to implement enhancements that improve coding accuracy, reduce denials, and support regulatory compliance.
+ Lead revenue cycle-focused Epic initiatives such as charge automation, CDM updates, and integration of payer rules within Epic workflows.
+ Support testing and validation of Epic upgrades and new functionality impacting revenue integrity.
+ Oversee the configuration, integration, and performance of revenue-related systems (e.g., EHR, charge capture, billing, coding, reimbursement tools).
+ Collaborate with IT teams and vendors to implement system upgrades, enhancements, and automation solutions.
+ Ensure system workflows support accurate and timely charge capture and billing.
+ Performed proactive analysis to recommend potential changes or enhancements to workflows.
+ Leads projects associated with optimization efforts and provides updates to senior and executive leadership team .
+ Monitor compliance with federal and state regulations, payer policies, and internal standards.
+ Partner with Compliance and Internal Audit to address audit findings and mitigate risk.
+ Support accurate documentation and coding practices through system design and education.
+ Develop dashboards and KPIs to track revenue integrity performance.
+ Analyze trends in denials, underpayments, and missed charges to identify root causes.
+ Provide actionable insights to leadership and operational teams.
+ Lead and mentor a team of revenue integrity analysts, system specialists, and project managers.
+ Foster collaboration with clinical, financial, and operational stakeholders.
+ Serves as mentor to senior analysts and is proficient and/or certified in numerous applications .
+ Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in relevant field Master's degree preferred
+ Certification in Revenue Integrity required (e.g., CRCR, CHRI, CPC, CPMA).
+ Epic Resolute – Certification or Proficiency required
+ Minimum 7 years of relevant experience; 5+ years of progressive experience in revenue cycle management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
+ Deep understanding of healthcare billing, coding (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS), charge capture, and reimbursement methodologies.
+ Experience with major EHR and revenue cycle platforms (e.g., Epic, Cerner) preferred.
+ Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, payer rules, and compliance standards preferred.
+ Knowledge of business and management principles.
+ Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
+ Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.
+ Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
+ Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
+ Familiar with state-of-the-art, industry-specific technology and solutions
+ Ability to proactively identify needs within the organization and, using expert technical and industry knowledge, design and build new solutions in support of organizational goals
+ Demonstrated knowledge project management and change control
+ Expert knowledge of supported industry and operations
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs, Excel (pivot tables), Visio, Project, PowerPoint, Word.
+ Knowledge of operational healthcare, hospital and/or ambulatory and inpatient workflows and medical terminology.
+ Ability to communicate ideas and problem solutions
+ Ability to effectively work with people in other departments and/or outside of the enterprise.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills
+ Outstanding oral and written communication skills
