Job Title: Forklift Operator
Job Description
As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for pulling orders for efficient shipment to customers, managing Direct Ship Ports and Truck Load Reports, and performing other shipping functions as required. Your role includes moving parts from Market Area to Assembly Lines, supplying Presses with containers, and ensuring the safe movement of trailers with a switcher truck. Shipping and receiving experience, along with tow motor experience, is required for this position.
Responsibilities
+ Observe and follow all company rules and regulations.
+ Maintain a satisfactory work area through the implementation of 5S.
+ Conduct daily safety checks for tow motor start-up and perform dock/platform inspections before use.
+ Engage dock locks before entering trailers and follow refueling procedures for tow motors.
+ Inspect racks for damage during unloading and clean them, removing old labels.
+ Ensure no parts are protruding above racks before moving them.
+ Inspect trailers before loading for any items that may cause damage.
+ Pack service parts carefully to avoid damage during transportation.
+ Ensure bar code labels match part numbers on manufacturing labels and are in good condition for scanning.
+ Ensure HOLD tags are moved to appropriate areas and not shipped to customers.
+ Pull parts from stock in FIFO order for shipment staging.
+ Maintain proper flow of press and small parts Kanban.
+ Support company goals and provide input for reducing line downtime due to material handling issues.
+ Learn and practice proper material handling functions, including supplying correct parts to assembly lines.
+ Report production when picking up or setting down racks.
+ Adhere to compliance by sitting parts in fixed locations.
+ Demonstrate ability and willingness to perform various duties with changing priorities.
+ Lead by example in attendance, quality, and accountability.
Essential Skills
+ Forklift operation and material handling
+ 3-4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
+ Ability to lift 50 lbs without mechanical assistance
+ Good basic math knowledge
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills
+ Excellent organizational and coordination skills
+ Completion of tow motor training and certification
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or GED equivalent
+ Experience with sit down forklifts and inventory management
+ Pallet jack, production, and order picking experience

Work Environment
The role is based in an automotive manufacturing setting, with shifts including 3x 1st shift from 6am to 2:30pm and 1x 3rd shift from 6pm to 2:30am. Shift times can be extended up to 4:30 or even 6:30 based on demand. The work environment requires adherence to safety protocols and the ability to manage a fast-paced workload efficiently.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Smyrna, Tennessee.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.86 - $19.86/hr.
