    Job Description

    This role involves working in a refrigerated facility with temperatures ranging from 40 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit. The General Production Worker is responsible for handling and organizing metal trays, ensuring a clean and sanitized environment, and managing the cheese production process from mixing to packaging.

    Responsibilities

    + Transport metal trays across the floor and stage them for machine operators.

    + Organize and sanitize metal trays for cheese storage.

    + Sweep and mop the floor to prevent debris from contaminating the product.

    + Scoop cheese with a shovel from the mixing bin to the cheese trough.

    + Sanitize the troughs after each batch.

    + Transfer cheese from the main trough to the machines for sorting.

    + Weigh the cheese accurately.

    + Sort, seal, and place the sealed cheese into boxes.

    + Wash and sanitize hands an average of 20 times per day.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically food manufacturing.

    + Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

    + Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

    + Bilingual skills.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Over 1 year of experience in food manufacturing.

    + Experience with pasteurization and dairy products.

    + Sanitation skills.

    Work Environment

     

    The work environment is a refrigerated facility requiring adherence to GMP guidelines, including the use of hair nets and beard nets. The team must work closely to ensure timely dairy production. Strict hygiene practices are enforced, including frequent handwashing and compliance with random plate testing to detect germs. Note that smoking is prohibited during shifts, including breaks and lunch.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, Illinois.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $19.84 - $19.84/hr.
