Job Title: General Production Worker

Job Description

The main function of this role is to provide hands-on support with lab and pilot plant tasks in support of innovation projects and other technical initiatives. This role includes measuring and batching ingredients, packaging and labeling samples, sorting samples, working in a lab environment, working in a pilot manufacturing environment, and cleaning and organizing equipment and spaces utilized for experimentation and development. Individuals in this role must be able to operate basic lab and pilot plant equipment and follow all human/food safety protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). This role will support technical leads across all of R&D and require good listening skills and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions. As a Continuous Part Time (CPT) employee, hours worked will depend on the needs of the organization.

Responsibilities

+ Support standard experimental work in the laboratory and pilot plant to prepare and package products.

+ Assist with pilot plant scale-up testing by readying ingredients, packaging materials, using processing equipment, and assisting with setup and post-test cleanup.

+ Provide support to produce samples for sale and other large production runs that occur in the Technical Center.

+ Support the organization, cleanliness, and sanitation of team laboratory workspaces.

+ Support inventory management of ingredients and supplies.

+ Support regulatory compliance through entry of ingredient and packaging information in the lot tracking database.

Essential Skills

+ Experience in production and general labor.

+ Knowledge of packaging, food production, and food manufacturing.

+ Ability to perform tasks such as packing, picking, cleaning, and hand packing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Good listening skills.

+ Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Work Environment

The work environment is in food manufacturing, adhering to all GMPs. It is clean and climate-controlled. All contractors will work on the 1st shift, starting at either 7:30 or 8 am, with a 7 1/2 hour shift including a 30-minute paid lunch.

This is a Contract position based out of Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
