Job Title: Fabricator
Job Description
As a Fabricator, you will be responsible for adhering to all relevant OSHA, client, and customer safety policies, procedures, and practices. You will perform complex welding assignments independently and set up and operate welding equipment for various tasks. Your role involves the practical application of shop mathematics to execute layouts and plan work, utilizing oxyacetylene torch and plasma cutter for diverse tasks. You will also layout large, critical, and complex fitting and welding assignments, ensuring quality through visual inspections, gauging, and measuring against specifications.
Responsibilities
+ Set up and operate a variety of powered and non-powered tools including drills, grinders, and saws to perform tasks.
+ Drive and operate trucks, forklifts, and boom lifts after receiving proper training and authorization.
+ Engage in active discussions with co-workers and supervisors to understand and solve job-related issues.
+ Participate in cross-training across different aspects of the business/shop to gain a thorough understanding of the products.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 2+ years of fabrication experience OR a 2-year technical degree in welding

Work Environment
The shop is located on residential land with office employees housed in a nearby building. There are three separate buildings for different stages of the lift production process: fabrication, painting, and steel receiving. The team is small, with about 8-9 fabricators working alongside a hands-on manager. As a small team, flexibility is key as you might engage in various tasks beyond welding throughout the day. The company specializes in custom work, and the work shifts are from 7 AM to 4 PM with an hour lunch break. During hot weeks, shifts may start at 6 AM with a half-hour lunch to accommodate earlier finish times. Teamwork is essential as tasks are generally completed in pairs.

This is a Contract position based out of Ames, Iowa.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
