Job Title: Civil Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to manage and mentor a team of design engineers, ensuring timely and high-quality project delivery. This role involves coordinating resources and schedules to meet project milestones and budget constraints, reviewing and approving engineering designs, reports, and submittals, and applying expertise in stormwater management, hydrology, hydraulics, grading, and earthwork to support site development designs.

Responsibilities

+ Manage and mentor a team of design engineers.

+ Coordinate resources and schedules to meet project milestones and budget constraints.

+ Review and approve engineering designs, reports, and submittals.

+ Apply expertise in stormwater management, hydrology, hydraulics, grading, and earthwork.

+ Prepare and review engineering reports, hydrology studies, and earthwork evaluations.

+ Contribute to the development of specifications and project documentation.

+ Liaise with municipalities and regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits and approvals.

+ Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations.

+ Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to design specifications and permit conditions.

+ Provide engineering support throughout the construction phase, resolving field issues as needed.

+ Exercise sound engineering judgment in selecting design alternatives and resolving technical challenges.

+ Maintain high standards of quality and compliance throughout all phases of project execution.

Essential Skills

+ 5+ years of experience in site/civil projects.

+ Expertise in site development, grading, civil design, and land development.

+ Proficiency in AutoCAD.

+ Ability to run own projects.

+ Experience in Long Island, NYC or both, with zoning permits and drainage.

+ Expertise in landscape design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with land development projects, zoning review, permitting, grading, drainage, and landscaping design.

+ Ability to prepare site plan packages.

Work Environment

The position is within a dynamic, woman-owned, multi-disciplinary civil engineering design and consulting firm with over 45 years of combined experience. The firm operates with a lean team of about 30 engineers, taking on complex projects in a fast-paced environment. Office hours are from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM with a one-hour lunch break. This role offers a diverse portfolio of projects, a backlog of work ensuring steady engagement, and significant opportunities for growth.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Holtsville, New York.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $65.00/hr.
