Job Title: Construction Manager Job Description
This role involves overseeing the implementation of large-scale construction projects, specifically the building of a brand new power plant using Simple Cycle technology and Siemens 3F class turbines. The projects include the Bobcat Energy Center in Iowa - Burlington and generation assets in Wisconsin, with engines totaling a capacity of 760MW.
Responsibilities
+ Manage field personnel to monitor day-to-day activities and provide oversight to contractors and subcontractors.
+ Identify construction specification errors and ensure construction adheres to contract specifications and applicable codes.
+ Ensure the execution and practice of all safety policies and procedures, promoting a safety culture throughout the company and project.
+ Investigate accidents and safety incidents, communicating findings to management.
+ Administer and monitor safety programs and perform safety assessments.
+ Accountable for performance measurements and standards of associated processes utilizing quality control and quality assurance processes.
+ Communicate construction progress to stakeholders concerning safety, production, risk, schedule, finance, and quality.
+ Provide management and coordination with external contractors and equipment manufacturers.
+ Support site permitting process, equipment selection, project design specifications, develop project schedules and cost estimates.
+ Provide onsite contractor interface, local government interface, and community relations.
+ Develop project Punch List and ensure Punch List completion, validate milestones and quantities for contractor payment.
+ Ensure construction quality through continuous monitoring of construction and installation QC process.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with simple cycle or similar power plant construction (Siemens 3F turbines, RICE generators).
+ 8 years of professional experience in construction-related positions such as management, project controls, QA/QC.
+ 3 years of supervisory experience.
+ Demonstrated project management skills, particularly in managing construction projects.
+ Knowledge of safety rules and applicable building codes.
+ Understanding of construction standards, work methods, equipment, maintenance practices, and materials.
+ Ability to read and understand maps, plans, profiles, and drawings.
+ Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
+ Proficiency in computer software programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and project management.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree preferred.
+ Experience in large electric construction, gas and electric operations, project management, or related areas.
+ Valid driver’s license required.
+ Experience working with labor union management preferred.
+ Demonstrated financial skills such as developing a budget, interpreting financial reports, and conducting financial evaluations.
Work Environment
The work will take place on-site at Cedar Rapids and Burlington, requiring presence 5-6 days per week for 5-7 years. The Cedar River Generating Station is a natural gas electric generating facility with a capacity of approximately 94 net megawatts, consisting of five Wärtsilä W18V50SG RICE generators. Each generator has a nominal capacity of 18.8 MW. The project is located adjacent to the existing Prairie Creek Generating Station. The role demands working directly for the utility, with GSA per diem rate and optional mileage reimbursement, requiring the candidate to have their own truck.

This is a Contract position based out of Madison, Wisconsin.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
