    JOB TITLE: Physician Assistant - Metabolic Medicine

     

    DEPARTMENT: Gastroenterology

     

    STATUS: Full Time

     

    Our Metabolic Medicine Program combines the art and science of medical weight management. While we support surgical intervention when appropriate, most of our patients choose non-surgical, medically guided care. Our comprehensive, ongoing treatment plan focuses on lifestyle modifications—including changes in diet, physical activity, and behavior.

     

    The program follows a two-step approach: thorough assessment followed by personalized management. Treatment may include weight-loss medications, dietary counseling, and tailored interventions, all aimed at achieving and maintaining a healthy body weight. We also provide continuous evaluation to identify and address any barriers to progress.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Physician Assistant provides comprehensive care to patient’s recovery under the supervision of a board-certified Physician in Obesity Medicine. Premier Medical Group is seeking a compassionate Physician Assistant, experienced in assessing and treating individuals who are affected by obesity. Duties will include performing exams, obtaining patient medical histories, ordering tests, and counseling patients.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Provides high-quality medical services under supervision of a physician.

    + Works in collaboration with the lead physician and other health care providers to provide health care across the continuum of care to assigned patients.

    + Obtains patient medical, physical and psycho-social history and performs comprehensive health assessment including physical exam.

    + Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests and laboratory studies within protocol guidelines.

    + Formulates therapeutic plans and treatments; prescribes and administers appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies and treatments.

    + Monitors patients’ progress and maintains records of treatments, surgeries, or other medical events.

    + Determines the effectiveness of the plan of care through documentation of client care outcomes.

    + Reassesses and modifies the treatment plan as necessary to achieve medical and health goals.

    + Completes all documentation in EMR in a timely fashion. Codes patient visits accurately and appropriately.

    + Informs physicians about any problems or discrepancies that might arise.

    + Maintains professional and technical knowledge via Continuing Medical Education credits.

    + Protects patient confidentiality, maintains ethics, and abides by all applicable laws.

    + Maintains physician, staff, and patient confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA regulations.

    + Other duties may be assigned as necessary to ensure optimal patient care and office workflow.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    + Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.

    + Current Physician Assistant licensure in the State of New York.

    + 2-5 years’ experience as a Physician Assistant with a minimum of 2 years of experience in metabolic medicine, bariatric medicine, endocrinology, primary care and/or related fields.

    + Knowledge of New York State Regulations.

    + Familiarity with advancements in medical technology.

    + Strong time-management skills with the ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

    + Analytical thinking skills with the ability to investigate and diagnose.

    + Demonstrates professionalism with strong communication and exceptional customer service skills.

    + Exhibits a caring, compassionate attitude and a genuine passion for delivering healthcare excellence.

    + Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team in a highly collaborative environment.

    + Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office suite, email, and internet navigation.

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

    + Familiarity with electronic health record system.

    + Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
