Summary
The Director, Event Engagement & Partnerships is a key team member of SHRM’s Event Strategy and Experience team which is ultimately responsible for the innovation, planning, and execution of SHRM’s Annual Conference and specialty conference portfolio serving 1,000 to 26,000+ attendees. The director supports the strategic direction of each event within the portfolio, while leading the event engagement and partnerships teams in project management and implementation. The director is a creative and confident producer who can develop overarching strategies and storytelling that translate into impactful moments from our largest stages. Further, the director leads expo and sponsorship fulfillment while improving the overall exhibitor and sponsor experience at our events.
As a senior member of SHRM’s events strategy and experience team, the Director is a key player in supporting SHRM’s business goals through powerful in-person and/or virtual conferences and events. They will lead and manage a team of event professionals – including full-time employees as well as contractors and/or vendors – to deliver high quality experiences at our events. This leadership role works cross-functionally across the organization to further elevate SHRM’s event business.
Responsibilities
+ Provides critical leadership to cross-functional teams within the Events, Marketing, Communications, Sales, and SMEs, leading colleagues in strategy, concepting, exhibitor operations, sponsorship activation, and audience development.
+ Leads and manages unique overarching event experience elements from conceptualizing big ideas, through strategy, stage production & execution.
+ Directs main stage production, entertainment, frameworks, and visual identity for SHRM’s biggest stages.
+ Oversees event branding for each SHRM event, including strategizing and concepting look-and-feel as well as execution of project plans and on site roll out.
+ Leads team to collaborate with internal stakeholders, programs, products, & initiatives to strategically create on-site experiences that ladder up to overarching goals of the event and to SHRM (to include builds, special events, ads, messaging, etc.) while maximizing ROI of resources.
+ Partners closely with other colleagues within Events, Event Marketing, Communications, and Brand teams to ensure thematic plan and key messaging for each event is cohesive in for collateral and communications.
+ Oversees project management and fulfillment of expo and sponsorship while creating a best-in-class exhibitor and sponsorship experience that leads to higher exhibitor and sponsor renewals, more defined ROI and increased affinity to SHRM overall.
+ Tracks budget and reports on metrics of success.
+ Serves as a critical member and active consultant across the organization to encourage innovation and strategic thought, sharing best practices that will deliver success and ROI.
+ Aligns business strategy to event goals and objectives at all events.
+ Represents SHRM Guiding Principles in all dealings with specific emphasis on raising SHRM’s profile within the business events industry.

Education & Experience Requirements
Education:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, PR or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience/training.
Experience:
+ Minimum of 10 (ten) years of experience in a similar work environment, preferably with medium-to-large size brand(s). In-house and agency experience preferred.

Work Environment
Hybrid Position (3 Days In-Office, 2 Days Remote):
+ This position follows a hybrid work schedule, with Tuesday through Thursday in office and Monday and Friday remote. Employees must be available during standard business hours, with core hours beginning between 8:00AM – 9:00AM and concluding between 5:00PM – 6:00PM.

_The hiring range for this position is $125,000 to $162,500 per year. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
