    POSITION: Air Conditioning Technology Professional Lab Assistant; Part Time at Night

    Under general supervision, assist the night instructors in performing lab activities and maintenance of facilities including both inside and outside lab facilities for the Air Conditioning Technology Diploma, Degree, and Certificate programs on the Clarkesville Campus. The lab assistant will need to be familiar with organizing lab materials, taking inventory, assisting students with lab related activities and assignments. Must be able to work with minimum supervision, effectively use oral and written communication skills, and demonstrate knowledge of current in-field procedures.

     

    Applicants must be motivated, organized, and able to work collegially in a professional environment.

     

    The selected candidate must be able to perform physical activities, such as but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing, pushing, pulling, and walking. The selected candidate must also withstand a variety of indoor and outdoor environmental conditions with possible exposure to dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, chemicals, and fumes is possible in a lab environment.

    Major Duties:

    • Assist faculty members with classroom instruction, record keeping, and other miscellaneous tasks related to instruction.

    • Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area.

    • Assist in maintaining equipment and inventory.

    • Tutor or mentor students.

    • Maintain lab environments.

    • Accompany instructor on curricular field trips.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • General knowledge appropriate to the Air Conditioning Technology program and/or related work experience.

    Preferred Qualifications, in addition to minimum qualifications:

    • Associate’s Degree in Air Conditioning Technology or closely related field

    • Related work experience.

    • Experience developing and teaching lessons individually and in classroom environments.

    • Knowledge of online instruction and gradebooks

     

    Salary/Benefits: Hourly rate based on education and experience
