    Position Description

    The Grant Manager is a non-civil service position in the Office of Family Safety (OFS) that supports the administration, monitoring, and compliance of grant-funded programs. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, creative, solutions-focused, and a strong writer, someone who can work across teams to ensure the successful implementation of grant-funded activities.

     

    This position plays a vital role in coordinating grant activities across the agency, tracking deadlines, preparing reports, supporting grant compliance, and ensuring funding is used to its fullest potential to support survivors of interpersonal violence.

    Typical Duties

    + Support the administration and oversight of OFS’ incoming and outgoing grants and awards under the direction of the Director of Education.

    + Identify potential grant opportunities that align with OFS’ mission and priorities.

    + Develop and write grant proposals.

    + Manage all grant applications and grant review processes.

    + Write and submit clear, timely, and compelling grant reports, ensuring compliance with programmatic requirements.

    + Support the fiscal team with necessary financial documentation related to grants and grants reporting.

    + Review incoming grant reports to verify accuracy and compliance, input information into the OFS database.

    + Collaborate with OFS staff and partners to gather information and data for grant proposals, applications, and renewals.

    + Track and monitor all grant and award budgets, spending, and invoicing in partnership with OFS fiscal staff.

    + Conduct risk assessments for subawards and assist with developing subrecipient agreements.

    + Maintain master files and documentation related to all grants and funding streams.

    + Coordinate the evaluation and monitoring of programs and services funded by grants.

    + Assist with preparing for programmatic and fiscal audits and reviews.

    + Communicate grant requirements to relevant staff and support them in understanding deliverables and timelines.

    + Coordinate and track purchases and procurement processes related to grant funding.

    + Contribute to the development and improvement of internal grant-related processes and systems.

    + Troubleshoot administrative or budget-related changes in coordination with the finance team and funders.

    + Participate in the preparation of reports that summarize outcomes, spending, and impact.

    + Maintain effective working relationships with Metro departments, nonprofit partners, and other collaborators.

    + Stay informed about relevant policies and changes related to public funding and grant compliance.

    Additional Requirements

    + Strong written communication skills with the ability to translate technical grant requirements into accessible, clear, and engaging content.

    + High attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines.

    + Working knowledge of grant budgeting and ability to monitor financial activity (experience in Excel required).

    + Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams and partners.

    + Comfort interpreting complex guidelines, such as Uniform Guidance and federal or state grant rules.

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office

    + Experience with Oracle PeopleSoft or similar platforms preferred.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Business Administration, Non-Profit Management, Communications, or a related field (e.g. writing, editing, journalism)

    + Two (2) years of experience in grants administration, public administration, program coordination, communications, or related areas.

    + Basic understanding of budgeting and financial documentation related to grants.

    + Demonstrated experience writing reports or grant proposals.

    + Familiarity or interest in issues related to interpersonal violence and victim services.

     

    Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

     

    + Master’s degree in Public administration, Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related field.

    + Experience interpreting data or financial information in a nonprofit or government setting.

    + Familiarity with governmental procedures related to budgeting, purchasing, or auditing.

    + Experience with federal and state grant reporting and/or program monitoring.

    + Experience participating in or preparing for Single Audits or Yellow Book Audits.
