THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will develop essential skills and gain hands-on experience in operating equipment used for highway construction and maintenance, while also participating in various manual labor activities as a member of a highway or bridge maintenance crew. You will receive training aimed at obtaining the necessary licenses and certifications for operating heavy machinery, including Heavy Truck/Tandem Axle (HT/TA) vehicles and loaders with a bucket capacity of 4.5 cubic yards or less. A key responsibility will involve conducting and documenting thorough pre- and post-operation inspections, as well as making necessary field adjustments to ensure safe equipment operation and minimize wear and tear. In addition to machinery operation, you will engage in a variety of manual labor tasks, employing both motorized and non-motorized hand tools such as shovels, rakes, hammers, chain saws, compressors, and patching machines, thereby contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the maintenance team.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment.
+ Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.
+ Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
+ Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,526.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirements:
+ This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.
+ This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner’s Permit on the first day of work.
+ This position requires possession of a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of work.
+ Certain positions require operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission .
