About the Department
Supplier Strategy & Operations leads the optimization of purchases across the Museum to sustain an environment of world-class strategic sourcing through an efficient Intake to Pay (I2P) process. This is accomplished by utilizing industry best practices, which manage risk and administer sourcing functionality to proactively direct buying activities and protect the interests of the Museum. Through this process, SSO:
+ leads The Met in embracing a culture where sourcing and negotiations are standardized across the organization, focusing on high profile, high impact projects in a strategic model;
+ facilitates the sourcing & RFP process, delivering information and efficiencies to stakeholders to enable smart decisions in the best interest of The Met’s mission;
+ is the Subject Matter Experts in all elements of strategic sourcing and supplier engagement;
+ oversees Supplier Relationship Management and Inclusion;
+ ensures our business processes are sustainable; and
+ manages risk and administers the right levels of control and efficiency.
+ The team manages key staff- and visitor-facing on site suppliers and supports their operation at the highest level, including Restaurants, Mailroom, Parking Garage and Coat Check suppliers.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
As the Supplier Operations Analyst, you will support the Senior Manager of Supplier & Restaurant Operations in collecting, tracking and reporting on supplier performance. You will track and coordinate departmental initiatives including RFP and sourcing events. You will organize, and maintain vendor documentation and coordinate vendor calendars, onboard/offboarding, inspections, licenses and renewals. You will provide administrative support in scheduling, documenting, and coordinating supplier operations logistics.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Data, Reporting & Insights
+ Owns regular data collection and reporting (e.g., sourcing cycle times, supplier performance, restaurant P&Ls), enabling leadership to make informed decisions quickly.
+ Prepares dashboards, status updates, and presentations that translate operational activity into actionable insight.
+ Tracks key performance indicators across sourcing, supplier operations, and restaurant functions, ensuring accountability and performance transparency.
Project Coordination & Special Initiatives
+ Serves as project coordinator for cross-departmental initiatives, ensuring deliverables stay on track and dependencies are managed.
+ Supports RFP and sourcing events with timeline tracking, document management, and internal stakeholder coordination.
+ Play a key role in implementing new systems or processes by managing logistics, user onboarding, and issue resolution (examples: Donation Process, Union Mail Handling Processes
+ Draft & edit communications with marketing, when needed.
+ Supports Restaurant-related initiatives and sustainability efforts.
+ Ad hoc projects, as needed (sound panel movement, vending machines, secret shopper, etc.)
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
+ Maintain and organize supplier and stakeholder contact lists, communication logs, and contract milestone calendars, schedules, inspections, licenses and renewals.
+ Ensures supplier onboarding/offboarding processes are completed smoothly and documentation is centralized.
+ Act as first point of contact for internal and external vendors & stakeholders including restaurants, parking garage, etc.
Operational Efficiency & Support
+ Maintains and updates calendars, team schedules, and project trackers to keep cross-functional teams aligned and on time.
+ Coordinates agendas, meeting notes, internal communications, follow-ups, and meeting logistics to keep initiatives moving forward.
+ Procurement ambassador role: enter requisitions, provide receipts, reconcile match exceptions
+ Enter Jira tickets for loading dock booking, security escorts, design tasks, etc.
Administrative Backbone
+ Manages key documentation systems (e.g., contract databases, SOP libraries, compliance logs).
+ Supports department budgeting and expense tracking by working closely with AP and Finance.
+ Provides backup coverage or support during peak activity, absences, or special events (e.g., restaurant launches or sourcing deadlines).
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Hospitality or applicable experience required.
+ Postgraduate, professional accreditation and/or MBA is a plus.
+ Excellent excel skills to perform analysis (pivots, v-lookups, etc)
+ Attention to detail with high level of organization and prioritization in fast-paced environment
+ Customer service profile with patient and polite attentiveness to Museum staff
+ Clear communication skills, confident speaker
+ Problem solving skills and proactivity in issue resolution
+ Sourcing, operations and/or hospitality administration experience is a plus.
+ Knowledge of Workday is a plus.
COMPENSATION RANGE:
+ Pay Range: $85,000.00 - $90,000.00 / Annually

The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, special licensing or qualifications, and other factors.

Location Requirements
At time of employment, employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum. “Commuting distance” means that they are located in one of following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania (the “Tri-state and PA” areas), and be able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.
