The*Recreation and Behavioral Health Care Planner*works with a Psychiatric Nurse under the Psychiatrist and Health Services Administrator. The position provides activities-related services to inmates on the mental health caseload with the focus of services covering inmates housed on the Mental Health Treatment Unit. * Provide treatment services and recreation activities using a variety of techniques to enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well being of clients. * Help reduce symptoms of depression, stress and anxiety, and help clients recover basic motor functions and reasoning abilities. * Help clients build confidence and socialize effectively to enable greater independence and to help reduce the long-term effects of the client’s mental illness. *QUALIFICATIONS*** The knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to: * Bachelor’s Degree in either Occupational Therapy, Recreation Therapy, or in the human services field. * Two years of experience in an in-patient mental health setting is required. * Experience working in a correctional setting is preferred. * Certification as a Recreation therapist is preferred but not required.
