About this position:
This position is part of the structural welding crew that fabricates, installs, and repairs steel bridge components, and the other crew replaces deficient bridges, which cannot be let to contract in a short time frame and are beyond the Districts ability to install. Must possess a Class A CDL.
Minimum Qualifications
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:
Three years of experience or training in the welding trade; OR
Completion of a Technical Diploma or Associate of Applied Science welding program from a Louisiana Technical or Community College or equivalent program from other institutions plus one year of experience or training in the welding trade.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Fabricates brackets, racks, cages, braces, grates and other objects from steel and aluminum stock.
+ Uses steel shapes and plates in welding and brazing equipment such as bushhogs, excavation buckets, and other wear components.
+ Takes measurements and prepares sketches necessary to fabricate various objects.
+ Determines equipment and supplies needed according to the type of welding job required.
+ Operates a mobile welding machine to repair broken bridge components, marine vessels, equipment, vehicles, bridges etc. in the field.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional
Work Schedule: 4 days a week, 10 hour days
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Compensation: Starting salary is $21.05/hourly
