Auburn University Facilities Management is thrilled to announce an opening for a Facilities Zone Maintenance Assistant Supervisor—a key leadership role that helps keep our beautiful campus running smoothly and efficiently.
In this position, you’ll be at the heart of campus operations, overseeing one of four dedicated Facilities Maintenance Zones. Each zone supports a unique mix of Auburn’s Colleges and Schools, administrative offices, Athletics, and Auxiliary units. You’ll work closely with a talented team of skilled trades professionals, coordinating daily maintenance tasks and ensuring our buildings stay safe, functional, and ready to support the University’s mission of academic excellence, groundbreaking research, and community outreach.

Essential Functions
+ Coordinates daily tasks for Auburn University multi-trades personnel and contractors, ensuring work aligns with Auburn University standards and contract requirements. Responsibilities include oversight and planning for maintenance activities at the President’s Estate of Auburn University, which comprises the Private Residence, Event Center, Atrium, and Formal Garden. Communicates with Maintenance Zone Leadership and Event Staff to confirm policies and procedures are understood and followed. Ensures completion of work in accordance with professional, safety, scheduling, and regulatory guidelines.
+ Meets regularly with clients, including stakeholders associated with the President’s Estate, to understand facility needs and collaborates with the supervisor to ensure appropriate support and planning can be provided.
+ Ensures quality and timely responsiveness of assigned maintenance activities, including after-hours response to emergency calls, with particular attention to the unique requirements of the President’s Estate.
+ Participates in recruitment of multi-trade positions, including reviewing resumes, participating in interviews, and assisting with performance evaluations in collaboration with supervisors.
+ Assists with ensuring timely and accurate data is maintained in the work management system to provide proper reporting for clients and senior leadership within Facilities and the University. Investigates and responds to client queries, complaints, and other issues to meet and satisfy client needs, including those specific to the President’s Estate.
+ Coordinates among Maintenance Department zones and shops, other Facilities Management Departments, outside contractors, and Auburn University customers and visitors to ensure maintenance activities, especially those at the President’s Estate, are well-communicated and efficiently executed. Maintains communication with stakeholders to maximize efficiencies and resolve issues. May perform some routine maintenance and preventative maintenance actions. Responsible to schedule, coordinate, and notify parties of planned maintenance activities.
+ Maintains awareness of records and documentation of work activities, supplies, and equipment. Assists in developing procedures and operating instructions for safe, accurate, and quality work performance, and provides updates on project status, including those related to the President’s Estate.
+ Collaborates with the supervisor to provide budget coordination for the zone, including planning and resource allocation for the President’s Estate. Maintains full communication with the Manager and Supervisor, Facility Zone Maintenance, regarding issues or matters of importance.

**Education:** High School Diploma or equivalent
**Experience:** 5 years experience in construction and trades.
**Substitutions allowed for Experience:** Degrees accepted in lieu of experience, at a rate of one year relevant education per year of required experience.

+ Knowledge of work order systems, microsoft office.
+ Knowledge of building systems, blueprints,CADD , and construction principals.
+ Ability to effectively communicate with customers and employees

Must have the ability to effectively schedule work with focus on strong communication and coordination skills and a high level of attention to detail as well as the ability and skills to complete routine and small maintenance tasks in a working supervisor role.
