Scope of Position:

Works under close supervision of a licensed nurse, and according to established policies, procedures and specific instructions, performs a variety of basic patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comforts of patients.

One to four weeks of on-the-job training at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital in order to become familiar with job responsibilities and duties, the work area, and policies and procedures.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Skills:

The ability to perform routine patient care functions such as baths, taking temperatures, pulse and respiration and blood pressures.

Must be able to follow routine written and/or verbal instructions.

Must have interpersonal skills required to communicate effectively with patients of the following:

Pediatric (8-12 years)

Adolescent (13-17 years)

Adult (18-64 years)

Geriatric (64 years and above)

Physicians, other hospital personnel as needed to promote quality patient care
