UW Recreation is a department within the Division of Student Life. We provide safe, accessible, and dynamic recreation experiences to engage students in growth and wellbeing. UW Recreation serves over one million students, faculty, and staff each academic year through informal and formal recreation, including fitness and sports classes, intramural and club sports, outdoor education, mindfulness programs, and more.

SUMMARY:
The Custodial Supervisor will report to the Assistant Director for Facilities and will manage a team of approximately 6 UW Recreation Custodians. This will include interviewing and recommending selection of applicants, conducting training, assigning and scheduling work, acting upon leave requests, approving timesheets, conducting annual performance evaluations, and recommending disciplinary action. The Custodial Supervisor will typically work the third shift, Monday - Friday, 11:30pm – 8:00am.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Determine staffing needs of Recreation buildings (IMA, Waterfront Activities Center, Golf Range); analyze workloads and assign work to employees.
+ Assign building keys to custodial staff each shift and maintain key security.
+ Inspect Recreation buildings and work with building managers to determine cleaning needs and job assignments.
+ Oversee performance of special cleaning projects at all Recreation buildings.
+ Carry department issued cell phone to maintain communication between staff at different locations.
+ Ensure that power cleaning equipment is maintained in proper working order.
+ Identify, report and take corrective action to resolve maintenance problems, utilizing MaintenanceCare software; report and act upon building security, maintenance and potential safety hazards.
+ Evaluate, order inventory (using UW issued Procurement Card) and maintain stock of custodial supplies; recommend the need for equipment.
+ Maintain time reports and leave records for team; maintain a record of employees’ job performance.
+ Conduct safety meetings and train subordinates; enforce safety rules and regulations; investigate accidents and fill out accident reports.
+ Attend meetings and training as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ One year of experience as a Custodian Lead.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
Additional Requirements:
+ Obtain AED/CPR/First Aid certificate within six months of employment.
+ Basic computer skills and the ability to use technology for email and online systems (i.e. Workday/MaintenanceCare/Teams/Training Modules).
+ Ability to work in an environment occupied by patrons and independently make critical decisions on workflow, while accomplishing daily scheduled tasks with flexibility and provide clear and concise communication with patrons or Operations staff.
+ Ability to communicate using basic English skills (reading, writing, and speaking).
Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
Pay Range Minimum:
$47,448.00 annual
Pay Range Maximum:
$63,468.00 annual
