Summary This SECURITY OFFICER position is located in the Air National Guard (ANG) Security Forces Squadron and is part of the CA 129 RQW. Responsibilities THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, INDEFINITE POSITION Indefinite appointment cannot exceed 5 years. Selectee may be non-competitively converted to permanent status if/when funding becomes available or position becomes unencumbered. The primary purpose of the SECURITY OFFICER, GS-0080-13, is to serve as the Senior Security Officer (Squadron Commander) over the Security Forces Squadron and all aspects of Integrated Defense, Law Enforcement, Air Base Ground Defense, Force Protection, and Anti-Terrorism as the Defense Force Commander (DFC) and Anti-Terrorism Officer (ATO). The incumbent of this position must be assigned as the Drill Status Commander. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance. Requirements Conditions of Employment CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity. Military technicians must hold the military grade specified for the position. Priority Areas(s) of Consideration: Priority consideration is first given to the areas below. AREA I= Current California National Guard employees who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment. AREA II= Current California National Guard members. AREA III= Current military members of the Air Force/Army National Guard, Air Force/Army Reserve or Air Force/Army Active Duty. (Applicants who are currently in other Air/Army branches and NOT currently a member of the California National Guard (CNG) must become a member of a compatible unit of assignment within the Air Force CNG commensurate with the military grade listed in this announcement prior to federal assignment). Military Grades: O-1 through O-5 Recruitment/Relocation Recruitment/Relocation Incentive MAY BE authorized, subject to funding and approval. PCS Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest. Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance. Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards. Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. Must be able to operate all Security Forces Vehicles and installed equipment. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position. Maintains weapons qualifications commensurate with a 31PX series Air Force Specialty Code, and be able to be armed, as required, in the performance of duties. Qualifications General Experience: Possess experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately; Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material; Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats; Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures; Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. SECURITY OFFICER, GS-0080-13: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-12 level experience in the Security career field or intelligence career field to include technical training schools and drill-status working experience; Experience in developing, implementing, executing, and managing guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods to a variety of work situations and various levels of security controls; Experience in the Wing's Security Programs; Experienced in managing and supervising the administrative and technical aspects of the Security Forces Squadron; Experienced in managing resources, funding, and budget requirements that support Security Forces programs and services; Experiences involved balancing Information Protection program requirements and providing advice, guidance, and direction on a wide variety of the program's policies and employee performance administrative issue; Experienced in structuring assignments to create effective and efficient procedures that resulted in measuring improved task processes.
