Stanford Management Company (SMC), the University’s investment office, invests the Merged Pool, which includes substantially all of the University’s investable endowment assets. SMC is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Investment Operations Analyst, School & Department Funds (SDF).The SDF group provides administrative and reporting support for separately invested portfolios with different objectives and mandates for specific schools and departments. These portfolios include, the Stanford Business School Trust, the Stanford Engineering Venture Fund, the Department of Athletics Investment Fund, the President’s Venture Fund, the Law School Venture Fund, the Hoover Fund, among others.
The Analyst will report to the Director, School and Department Funds and will work closelywithinafive-personteamtoprovideinvestment operationsservicesfortheseseparately invested portfolios.The core operational duties will require excellent execution and organizational skills toensure timely and accurate investment data tosupport investments in start-up companies and fund managers.
CORE** **DUTIES*:
• Process, record, and perform recurring operational functions throughout a start-up investment’s lifecycle, following the relevant guidelines to support the schools, assisting with certificate management,shareholder consent processing,corporateactionupdates,andcompletingappropriatedocumentationforrealizations.
• Prepare, track, and analyze data elements required to update investment records based on corporate action activity. Ensure work complies with complex internal policies and external regulations which may require interpretation.
• Collect, enter, research, and reconcile investment transactions and records on an ongoing basis across all internal and external custodial systems, to ensure integrity and accuracy of data. Ensure related documentation is completed and archived.
• Interact with brokers and custodian bank; identify, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues; ensure completion and follow-up of outstanding items, including confirming transactions are properly executed and instructing business partners to ensure accurate recording of all activity.
• Provide effective, relevant, and focused analytical support for Board investment reports and dashboards.
• Archive investment fund manager documentation from manager portals onto internal data storage systems.
• Interface with key internal and external stakeholders, including exhibiting a strong
• customer service orientation.
• Develop and maintain desktop procedures and documentation in a clear and concise manner.
• Participate in critical analysis of existing systems and processes and identify opportunities for process improvement.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Experience with a variety of investment types (public and private).
• Understanding of and ability to apply accounting skills and concepts. Knowledge of and experience with accounting systems.
• Proficiency in business applications, such as Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
• Experience in financial modeling and business intelligence applications to produce analysis and presentations.
• High degree of accuracy, strong attention to detail, and efficient execution of responsibilities
• Robust organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload, set deadlines independently, and complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
• Strong communication skills, including ability to prepare materials for and clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences, client groups, and management.

• Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, use telephone, writing by hand, sort/file paperwork.

The expected pay range for this position is $98,000 - $105,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
