Description
The University of Rochester's Department of Psychiatry is seeking a licensed psychologist with specialty postdoctoral training in child and adolescent mental health. This faculty position is based in the Department of Psychiatry’s Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Division, within the School of Medicine & Dentistry and will have both clinical and educational responsibilities. Opportunities for scholarship related to clinical and educational efforts are encouraged, as well as within the faculty member’s area of expertise as extramural funding permits.
This new position focuses on: (1) provision of evidence-based assessment and treatment to children, adolescents and families experiencing a need for urgent mental health care and/or crisis services; (2) provision of supervision, collaboration and consultation within an interdisciplinary care team; (3) interdisciplinary education and training, including masters’, doctoral and postdoctoral trainees; and (4) program development and evaluation. This opportunity is focused on improving the health of the children in our community through the provision of mental health urgent care, and to reduce the need for higher levels of care, by expanding the capacity of traditional outpatient behavioral health clinics to meet the needs of these families.
Minimum requirements include PhD or doctoral equivalent in Psychology in an APA-accredited program, successful completion of an APA-accredited internship, postdoctoral training in child and adolescent psychology, licensure in the state of New York, and significant experience with diverse and underserved child and adolescent populations requiring crisis intervention and/or inpatient admission. Qualified applicants will be expected to possess advanced skills working within multidisciplinary teams and providing clinical education and supervision to trainees from diverse disciplines.
The Department of Psychiatry provides a full continuum of care, including a comprehensive psychiatric emergency program; adult, geriatric and child services (inpatient, outpatient and partial hospitalization programs); addiction services; a variety of community-based treatment programs; specialized programs for Spanish-speaking patients and deaf/hard-of-hearing patients, and more. Strong collaborative relationships support our multidisciplinary educational mission and provide state-of-the-art training facilities that include ready access to the URMC Center for Experiential Learning and its simulation training resources. The successful candidate will enjoy close working relationships with colleagues from other disciplines, including psychiatry, family therapy, nursing, social work, mental health counseling and chemical dependency.
