Job Summary: NYU Steinhardt's Nutrition Program is seeking one (1) full-time Associate Research Scientist to support Dr. Trude to advance impactful research and project management of multiple research projects on equitable food access. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to contribute to a variety of complex research projects, including developing and executing detailed project plans, fostering relationships with key stakeholders, and preparing insightful reports, studies, and presentations. The role also involves collaborating on innovative research initiatives, assisting with grant writing, and supporting data analysis and dissemination of findings.
Specific Responsibilities:
+ Lead weekly meetings and trainings
+ Day-to-day project administration and communication
+ Managing complex databases
+ Supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate research assistants
+ Manage web development and design to ensure alignment with community needs
+ Provide leadership in community partnerships with farms and policymakers
+ Drive research, communications, and dissemination to both academic and policy audiences
+ Recruit research participants for the study in community settings located in the Bronx
+ Administer surveys and collect participant data in-person
+ Manage intervention activities
+ Lead protocol development, IRB coordination
+ Support fulfillment of grant deliverables
+ Prepare reports, presentations, and publications
Working Conditions
This position is hybrid. The Associate Research Scientist will work at the NYU Washington Square Campus, will have a designated office, and will travel to the Bronx community sites to support community-based research activities. Public transportation costs for fieldwork are reimbursed. Some team meetings may be virtual.
Time Frame
One-year position with potential renewal for a second year depending on grant availability and performance.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $73,000-$83,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
Per NYU's remote-work policy, this position is expected to be hybrid.
The Associate Research Scientist position will be supervising undergraduate and graduate students.
Qualifications and Competencies:
+ 3-5 years of recent experience in community organizing, data systems, and conducting research
+ excellent Google Drive and Microsoft Excel skills, and meticulous attention to detail
+ A bachelor's degree is required; Masters preferred
+ Able to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing)
+ Balance multiple ongoing priorities in a fast-paced work environment
+ Experience with food systems, especially urban food systems
