Job Overview
Portzen Construction/Dubuque Plumbing and Heating is seeking a VDC Coordinator.
Duties & Scope:
+ BIM modeling of construction systems
+ Understand BIM scope of work
+ Prepare model content for VDC coordination meetings
+ Collaborate and coordinate with other disciplines through VDC coordination meetings
+ Create shop drawings to provide to the field
+ Maintain a high level of verbal and written communication
+ Understand single line diagrams and construction drawings
+ Potential field site visits with the possibility of being stationed on a project site
+ Work with Superintendents and field personnel to understand installation means and methods
+ Provide top service to our clients with consistent and concise communication
Qualifications
+ 3-5 years BIM experience
+ Knowledge of Autodesk production software (Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk Point Layout, BIM 360)
+ Dedication to learning, expanding knowledge and continuous improvement
+ Superior organizational and communication skills
+ Problem solver with a strong work ethic
+ Able to work with teams, supervisors and direct reports
+ Motivated to complete tasks on time and on budget
+ Mechanical Systems background preferred but not required

Mike Portzen Construction began in 1983 with several housing rehab projects, converting old buildings into viable housing units. Mike Portzen Construction was incorporated in May of 1989, changing the name to Portzen Construction, Inc. The company has since developed into a multi-faceted organization. Our capabilities include: complete excavation services for underground utilities, water service, storm and waste water piping, street repairs, and building foundations; concrete services for roads, streetscapes, parking lots and street paving, building foundations and structural concrete; carpentry services for commercial and industrial structures including framing, finishing, cabinetry, siding and roofing; plumbing services for commercial and industrial projects including process piping for water treatment, waste water treatment plants and aquatic facilities for moderate size cities.
