    The Lead Product Definition Engineer is responsible for developing and managing product designs, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality aerospace components and systems. This role requires expertise in product definition, CAD modeling, and technical documentation, as well as a strong commitment to safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC).

     

    At GE Aerospace in Dayton, OH the EPISCenter is the headquarters for all of Aviation Power Engineering. At this facility you have an opportunity to put your engineering training and skills to use. Our Engineers are focused and challenged on developing new technologies and delivering state of the art products such as Hybrid Electric aircraft, the latest military platforms, and SiC technology to name a few. Plus, if you like hands-on work, there is also a 155,000 sq ft lab that includes 6 high power test cells totaling 15 MW, an EMI chamber, an electronics lab, a rapid build prototype lab, and a real time simulator lab with all the latest equipment.

    Job Description

    Role & Responsibilities

    + Lead the creation and maintenance of product definition models and drawings using CAD software.

    + Ensure designs meet engineering specifications, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.

    + Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to optimize product designs for manufacturability and performance.

    + Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to team members.

    + Manage configuration control and ensure proper documentation of design changes.

    + Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for design-related issues.

    + Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design processes and tools.

    Required Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field

    + A minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering role

    Additional Information

    + This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Proven experience in product definition and design within the aerospace industry.

    + Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., NX, CATIA, or equivalent).

    + Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles.

    + Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

    + Effective communication and leadership abilities.

    + Commitment to safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC).

    + Experience with lean methodologies or GE Aerospace's FLIGHT DECK operating system.

    + Familiarity with aerospace materials and manufacturing processes.
