Provide general legal advice to employees and management representatives with respect to unsecured consumer lending, home improvement lending, buy now pay later lending products, and credit card partnership agreements. Ability to learn the assigned business unit’s business/industry, policies and procedures is required. Knowledge of financial industry regulation is a plus, but not required. The primary emphasis for hiring will be on experience drafting and negotiating sophisticated contracts, such as mergers and acquisition transactions, business organizational documents (LLC operating agreements, stock restriction agreements, etc.) or qualified and non-qualified retirement plans. Work with other members of the Legal, Risk & Compliance group to ensure that information, knowledge and experience is shared for the benefit of the organization as a whole. A successful candidate will possess strong business acumen and the ability to translate complex legal principles into practical and effective business solutions.
About This Role:
+ **Contract Drafting and Negotiation** – Proactively engage with business units to ensure appropriate drafting and review of customer, merchant, partner, and other contracts in order to effectively manage risk to the enterprise and document relationships with third parties.
+ **Regulatory Guidance** – Develop an understanding and expertise in closed-end consumer financial products and credit card-related regulations with ability to identify risks and conduct research, work with outside counsel, and develop operational process recommendations and contractual safeguards to mitigate those risks.
+ **Legal Advice & Counsel** – Provide legal advice and counsel to primarily the “buy now pay later” and consumer construction financing business units. Develop and present recommendations to business unit representatives and assist with implementation of approved solutions.
+ **Outside Counsel** – Effectively collaborate with and manage outside counsel providing legal services, including the identification of appropriate counsel, contracting with counsel for services, and managing the cost of counsel.
+ **Legal Risk Management** – Ensure that assigned business units have access to and utilize available legal risk management services and ensure that the requirements of the organization’s legal risk policy are met within assigned business units.
The Ideal Candidate for This Role:
+ Experience in the financial services industry, specifically consumer regulatory matters and lending, is preferred but not required. The primary focus will be on experience with complex contractual arrangements and skills to analyze proposed transactions with the ability to learn applicable regulatory frameworks applicable to contracts being drafted, reviewed, and negotiated.
+ Ability to think creatively and strategically, while still developing tactical plans.
+ Demonstrate a consultative approach with the ability to analyze stakeholders’ needs.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills.
+ Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build collaborative relationships, listen, and actively contribute to discussions.
+ Display a positive business presence with management and external contacts.
+ Demonstrate sound judgment and apply logical and critical thought processes when developing and recommending solutions.
+ 3+ years in law firm private practice or as in house counsel preferred.
Compensation:
Compensation range (base pay): $105,443.00-$179,253.00

Final compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.
