    Next Door at Astor Place is a true culinary adventure located inside the Wegmans store in the heart of the East Village.     As a Lead Cook, you’ll be part of a passionate team delivering contemporary Japanese cuisine with global inspiration. This is your opportunity to work with world-class ingredients, sharpen your skills and lead a team in a fast-paced, open kitchen environment.

    What You’ll Do

    + Lead and inspire a team of cooks, sharing your passion and expertise

    + Set the pace and tone for a high-performing, efficient kitchen

    + Forecast prep needs and manage sushi station operations

    + Ensure compliance with all state restaurant health codes and regulations

    What You Bring

    + 2+ years’ experience as a line cook

    + Background in upscale or fine dining Asian cuisine

    + Expert knife skills and ability to work under pressure

    + Experience working across multiple kitchen stations

    + Experience leading a culinary team

    + Familiarity with inventory management and food cost control
