    Job Description

    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) is seeking a detail-oriented, inquisitive, and analytical individual to join our Member Insights team as a Research Analyst. The ideal candidate will be proficient in all phases of the quantitative and qualitative research process and possess a strong understanding of descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. They also have a passion for data-driven decision-making, an eagerness to learn, and a desire to support family medicine through thoughtful research and analysis.

    Key responsibilities include:

    + **Manages marketing and/or industry-related research projects** . Designs and deploys survey instruments, manages and collects data, performs statistical analyses, develops engaging infographics and writes reports.

    + **Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis:** Utilize statistical and analytical tools to examine data, identify trends, and generate actionable insights. Employ qualitative research methods when appropriate.

    + **Survey Development and Administration:** Support the design, deployment, and management of surveys targeting AAFP members or external stakeholders.

    + **Report Writing:** Prepare clear, concise reports, infographics, presentations, and research summaries for internal and external audiences. Translate complex findings into actionable recommendations.

    + **Collaboration:** Work closely with the Member Insights team, subject matter experts, and other cross-divisional team members to achieve project goals for over 40+ annual research initiatives across the organization and with external partners. Contribute and participate in regular team meetings, identify barriers to effectiveness (project level) and contribute to the success of the team and organization.

    + **Project Management** : Manage multiple projects simultaneously, work independently, and adhere to timelines and priorities set by supervisors.

    + **Continuous Learning:** Engage in professional development opportunities, including certification and training in new research methods, analytical approaches, and software that align with team needs.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and Competencies

    + **Education** : Bachelor’s degree in public health, health policy, social sciences, statistics, economics, or a related field required. Coursework (2+), research certifications, or academic/professional experience in research methods and analysis a must.

    + **Technical Skills:** Proficient to advanced knowledge with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI), competency with collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, Teams) and survey platforms (Alchemer, Qualtrics). An understanding of CRMs (HubSpot, Salesforce) preferred.

    + **Analytical Ability:** Strong attention to detail and capacity for critical thinking. Demonstrated ability to conduct descriptive and inferential statistical analyses, manage and merge data sources, identify outliers and data abnormalities, and accurately interpret quantitative and qualitative data findings.

    + **Communication:** Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to explain complex concepts clearly to non-experts and provide supplemental resources where needed.

    + **Teamwork:** Proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and contribute to a healthy positive workplace culture.

    + **Organization:** Effective time management and organizational skills. Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines in an agile environment.

    + **Initiative:** Self-motivated, resourceful, and eager to learn.

    + **Ethics:** Commitment to ethical research and sampling practices while maintaining data integrity and ensuring confidentiality.

    Preferred Experience

    + Internship or academic research group/lab experience in healthcare, public health, policy analysis, social sciences, or a related field.

    + Experience with statistical software (SPSS, R, SAS, JASP or PSPP).

    + Strong understanding of survey design best practices, sampling frames, data collection, assessment, statistical modeling or program evaluation.

    + Participation in collaborative research projects.
