    The Problems You’ll Solve

     

    The National Service Learning & Development Coordinator will support NYC Service’s national service NYC Civic Corps AmeriCorps program, reporting to the Deputy Chief Service Officer.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    Member Professional Development

     

    - Develop elements of the curriculum for professional development for NYC Service’s AmeriCorps program and track progress on the goals and strategy.

     

    - Plan and execute member orientation and monthly member trainings, including space procurement, logistics planning, securing trainers, managing staff roles and placement for those days, and leading selected elements of training.

     

    - Create and analyze training evaluation plans and surveys to gauge the effectiveness of training and fine-tune training based on learnings found.

     

    - Develop and oversee member and host site resources including the online portal (which includes all member and supervisor training information) and resource library.

     

    - Support the Program Coordinators in providing career coaching and individual skill development plans.

     

    Member Events and Engagement

     

    - Lead key events that support the member experience throughout the program year, including AmeriCorps Kick Off, AmeriCorps Week, Life After AmeriCorps Day, Career Fair, Networking Event, and Recognition Event.

     

    - Lead the development of affinity groups, which exist to give members a leadership role and a space to explore shared interests.

     

    - Plan and execute teambuilding activities and events based on members' interests and engagement needs.

     

    - Support alumni engagement efforts.

     

    Program Support

     

    - Lead the procurement of in-kind donations to support member training (space, food, facilitators) and member needs for resources.

     

    - Support the Operations team with member onboarding, including consulting on the member pre-survey, creating communications for incoming members, and presenting on learning and development plans for the year.

     

    - Participate in the member recruitment process including attending career fairs, conducting phone screens, and assisting in the matching process between applicants and host sites.

     

    Advance NYC Service Mission, Values, and Goals

     

    - Represent NYC Service at select events.

     

    - Be available on select weekends and on select evenings for projects.

     

    - Provide project support with other service activities and programs, as needed, including emergency volunteer response.

     

    - Support City initiatives as needed, including but not limited to possible emergency response and recovery.

     

    About You

     

    - You have experience or comfort in individual counseling, problem-solving, and guiding others through complex circumstances.

     

    - You have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

     

    - You are capable of managing against goals and working under tight deadlines.

     

    - You have strong written and oral communication.

     

    - You have experience in relationship management.

     

    - You have strong computer skills.

     

    - You have excellent organizational and administrative skills.

     

    - You have the ability to work both independently and as an effective team member.

     

    - You have the ability to work beyond traditional working hours and schedules.

    Qualifications

    1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in administration, research, management, analytical work, community work or community activities; or

    2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of experience as described in "1" above; or

    3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and/or experience. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience in administration, research, management, analytical work, community work or community activities.
