    This role in summary

     

    Our Ottawa Quality team is looking for a Quality Engineering Technician for 1st Shift 6:30am-3pm.

     

    Wage rate $31.75/hour.

    Your responsibilities will include

    • Support generation and update of Launch QA Matrix and QA Network.

    • Identify current Error proofs and Mistake proofs and develop new Error/Mistake proofs.

    • Identify and record Critical to Quality Stations. Plans to error/Mistake proof Current CTQs and develop new CTQs.

    • Participate in the development of Control Plans and reaction plans.

    • Develop, coordinate and maintain the Quality KPI’s for the assigned production area to ensure zero quality claims for the customer.

    • Participate in the development of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and approve it.

    • Develop and execute safe launch procedures for any new products or projects.

    • Deployment of WCM methodology specific to QC pillar

    • Develop project teams as needed to deliver Kaizens

    • Lead a function within the Quality department to enable delivery of plant quality metrics

    • Lead QC WCM activities in area (display boards, quality feedback to assembly)

    • Liaise with other departments/functions as required to drive change and implement corrective actions to mitigate quality defects.

    • Create and maintain quality/equipment standards in their respective machines.

    • Create Best Practices

    • Engage in honest, open and factual communications in a professional manner

    • Analyze and react to daily results (FPY, AY, CAL, scrap)

    • Teach WCM tools to cross-functional groups, including Quality and other teams.

    • Lead training to support improvement activities.

    • Lead and facilitate the completion of QEWOs in their respective areas.

    Minimum requirements

    • Associate’s Degree in engineering or related field.

    • Strong experience in conducting kaizens and QC pillar knowledge.

    • Consistently demonstrates the Whirlpool Values

    • Strong computer skills including data analysis and chart creation

    • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and verbal).

    • Have a strong desire for personal and professional development

    • Must be able to identify problems, analyze root cause and implement solutions that address the root-cause and minimize business risk

    • Customer focused, team-oriented, and able to drive sustainable business solutions

    • Must be willing and able to work overtime and have the flexibility to work any shift.

    Preferred skills and experiences

    • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering related field (or in progress)

    • 2+ year engineering/manufacturing experience

    • WCM (World Class Manufacturing) tool usage and knowledge
