Amex Digital Labs catalyzes digital innovation at American Express by originating, incubating and managing emerging products and platforms that can be essential to our customers’ digital lives. AI is reshaping today’s commerce journies and how Card Members discover, book and ultimately make purchases. The Digital Labs Agentic Strategy & Partnerships team is responsible for leading the strategy and execution of Amex’s key intiaitves, partnerships and products for AI-assisted and agentic commerce.
As Director, you will help lead Amex through this agentic commerce and payments evolution. You will work across the enterprise to ready payments and membership capabilities, build and maintain best in class partnerships with pivotal players in AI and key ecosystem players (OpenAI, Perplexity, Stripe), and drive Amex’s leadership in agentic commerce.
You will evaluate and build partnership opportunities, lead major contract negotiations and help define the future product roadmap. You will collaborate extensively with the Digital Labs Product team and a broad range of internal stakeholders across Strategic Partnerships, Enterprise Strategy, Network, Resy/Tock, Amex Offers, and GCO, in addition to managing senior-level relationships at external partners.
Responsibilities:
+ Lead the partner evaluation and strategic alignment to prioritize partners, including AI companies, Digital Giants, and major platforms
+ Lead the end to end contract negotiations with new partners and new relationships with existing partners, collaborating with other key partner relationship holders (Tech, SP, GCG)
+ Help lead the cross-enterprise agentic commerce workstream, ensuring alignment and accountability across functional teams
+ Coordinate and connect the dots across supporting enterprise workstreams, including product development, roadmap prioritization, policy and contractual implications
+ Regularly contribute to and present updates to leadership
+ Be a thought leader on the evolving AI and payments landscapes to identify new partnership opportunities, drive the strategic roadmap of existing partnerships, and monitor the competition
Qualifications:
+ Exceptional interpersonal, communication and influencing skills with the ability to work with stakeholders across different functions, colleagues at all levels and external partners
+ Experience managing end-to-end external partner relationships, owning the day to day as well as driving longer term partner strategies
+ Understanding of partnership contracts and experience negotiating large enterprise deals
+ Experience leading high performing teams, proven track record as a thoughtful and development-focused people leader
+ Creative problem-solving skills and comfort operating with imperfect information
+ Strategic thinker with a savviness for new tech, connecting the dots, and thinking three steps ahead
+ Must have strong interest in AI and familiarity with key players and consumer-facing products
+ Thrives in fast-paced, innovation-focused environment with strong sense of ownership and accountability.
Qualifications
Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
