Saint Alphonsus Medical Group is now hiring for a unique Medical Assistant role that will split time between the outpatient Palliative Care clinic and the Infectious Disease clinic that share clinic space on our Boise Regional Medical Center campus!
Position Summary & Highlights** **:
+ As mentioned above, this MA position will work in two different clinics (similar location in Boise), splitting time between outpatient Palliative Care and Infectious Disease, but working a set schedule. See below for details regarding the work schedule and locations.
+ You will support the Palliative Care provider team which includes two Physicians, Social Worker, and Pharmacist and our Infectious Disease provider team which includes three Physicians, Locums staff, and a dedicated RN.
+ The Saint Alphonsus Palliative Care team works closely with the patient and their family to provide the tools and education to help the patient age gracefully and prolong their independence as long as possible. They also provide an extra layer of support that coordinates and facilitates communication among patients, families, physicians and others involved in care.
+ Our team of healthcare professionals listed above work Palliative Care is appropriate at any age and any stage of a serious illness. It may take place over an extended period of time and can be provided while the patient receives active treatment.
+ The Saint Alphonsus Infectious Disease team treats individuals experiencing bacterial, fungal, viral, and parasitic infections to provide an extra layer of support and care in this specific area.
What You Will Do – Palliative Care** **:
+ In addition to typical MA duties, you will perform POC testing, med refills, patient calls and triage, and assisting with minor procedures and healthcare and cognitive assessments when needed.
+ You will primarily be working with older patients who will regularly visit the clinic so you will be able to develop relationships with patients and their families.
+ You will have the opportunity to attend educational trainings, symposium planning and other work around these specialties.
What You Will Do – Infectious Disease** **:
+ You will help care for a wide variety of infections and patient situations.
+ In addition to typical MA duties, you will work with high acuity patients and may perform wound care, injections, med refills, patient calls and triage, and assisting with minor procedures and healthcare assessments when needed.
+ You will track down information for patient visits and also check in and monitor patients with IV care for antibiotic therapy.
+ You will have an interest in and enjoy learning about different diseases.

+ Who is confident and comfortable speaking with providers about patient care.
Work Schedule** **:
+ 40 hours per week, 5 – 8-hour shifts, Mondays – Fridays;
+ Palliative Care – Mondays (in Nampa), Tuesdays and alternating Wednesdays;
+ Infectious Disease – Alternating Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays;
+ Around the hours of 7:30am – 5:00pm, with some flexibility with start and end times.
Locations:
+ Boise Clinics: 5966 W. Curtisian Ave (on the Boise Regional Medical Center campus (I-184 and Curtis Road)). Palliative Care patients are also seen in the Cancer Institute across the way.
+ Nampa Clinic: Nampa Medical Center Campus – inside the Cancer Institute (off of Flamingo Road (I-84 and Garrity Exit).

Minimum Requirements** **:
+ High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire.
+ MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies:
+ American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
+ American Medical Technologists (RMA)
+ National Healthcare Association (CCMA)
+ National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
+ National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)
+ American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
+ National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA)
+ New Graduates: 1) MA certificate of completion required from an accredited program or school. 2) Completion of either a 100-hour MA externship or 6 months MA experience in lieu of the externship hourseven with MA certification.
+ Medical Assistant with Experience: 1 Year of MA experience OR Current MA Certification OR obtain or renew certification within 90 days from hire from approved credentialing agencies listed above.
+ Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.
+ *Obtaining the MA certification typically requires completing an MA Program or working as a Medical Assistant for at least 1 year. See each of the credentialing organization sites for additional details. EMT and CNA certifications will not count towards an MA certification.
