The Opportunity

As an **Accounting Specialist** you will be responsible for the formulation of approved accounting and reporting practices, extensive account analysis, and implementation of process improvements. Prepares oversees the financial statements drafting process; prepares and reviews various reports; implements accounting policies and documents technical research related to accounting issues. Serves as technical expert to internal clients and provides resolution of complex and/or high-risk issues regarding assigned financial reports and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Detailed tasks will include:

+ Prepares, enters and posts limited complex journal entries. Review journal entries and recommend adjustments of entries.

+ May assist with resolving complex variances. Identify and implement alternative solutions to prevent continued issues.

+ Reviews audit deliverables for quality: May prepare complex deliverables as needed and assists with managing audit deliverables.

+ May help troubleshoot system issues. Participates in various system implementations and enhancements related to financial systems.

+ Prepares financial analysis. Presents results to management.

+ Prepares monthly/quarterly complex financial statements and various reports. Reviews financial statements and reports for accuracy.

+ Assists with coordinating monthly and quarterly financialdeliverables to management.

+ May analyze revaluation and ensures proper reporting in compliance to Financial Reporting Standard.

+ May review reconciliations as needed. Ensures reconciliations are being completed.

+ Identifies and or reviews risk and opportunities and assesses reasonableness of balances; makesdetermination of action needed.

+ Demonstrates strong technical knowledge. Assists with review of policies and procedures.

+ May assist with knowledge transfer and training for staff, as assigned.

+ Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvement.

Internal Clients: Legal, Accounting Operations, Payroll, Treasury, Tax and Financial Applications.

Regular interactions with the businesses and upper management.

Minimum Qualifications

+ Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience.

+ Typically 7+ years related experience.All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Master Business Administration (MBA) or MS in Accounting, preferred

+ Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or certified accountant, a plus

+ Prior experience with Accounting Systems utilized at Black & Veatch

+ Demonstrated knowledge/application of percent complete accounting

+ Technical accounting knowledge

+ Demonstrated nowledge of Financial Statement analysis

+ Knowledge of foreign currency terminology and concepts

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Typical office environment: Sitting/Standing/Computer Usage for extended period of time.

Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
