    The Opportunity

     

    The Senior Piping Designer is responsible for leading the Physical Design efforts on BV’s portfolio of Fuels & Natural Resources projects. The ideal candidate will have significant exposure to the design and construction of Offshore/ Marine LNG facilities, and/or other industrial facilities, as well as a strong understanding of industry best-practices and trends.

     

    This role serves as a primary point of contact for a global piping/equipment team on their assigned projects. The Senior Piping Designer will provide mentoring and guidance to the team and be the decision maker for specific project needs. They will be responsible for meeting all project requirements and developing deliverable schedules.

     

    The Senior Piping Designer will also be responsible for coordination with other design groups and disciplines, ensuring a unified project environment.

     

    • Assist with the review of contracts and ensure requirements are being met.

    • Assist with the development of schedule and budget for assigned projects.

    • Demonstrate expert level knowledge of at least one modeling application or design discipline.

    • Responsible for the coordination and delivery of milestone deliverables (Drawings, Clash  Reports, etc.)

    • Occasional short-term international travel based on project requirements.

    • Project Review

    + o Review standards, practices & procedures related to projects and coordinate changes with project team.

    + o On projects utilizing automated quantity reporting, assist with monitoring project specific QA/QC procedures for model files (i.e. dimensional accuracy, component classification, etc.).

    + o Facilitate coordination meetings with project team to review results of digital model audits at each major project milestone.

     

    Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.

    Job Summary

    The Fuels & Natural Resources - Energy Resources Industries group is seeking a highly motivated Senior Piping Designer with Offshore/Marine LNG experience. The ideal candidate will be able to:

     

    + Reviewproject requirements and determines correct format and contents of the required deliverables.

    + Ensures deliverables are following codes and standards.

    + Solves difficult technical problems and provides consultation and training.

    + Coordinate deliverables with other groups to minimize interference or errors.

    + Participate with other design groups to review and exchange project information necessary for design development.

    + Functions in a technical specialist/entry level supervisory capacity.

    + Solvedifficult technical problems.

    + Provideconsultation and training.

    Key Responsibilities

    Communicate and may set appropriate design and graphic standards. Reviews project requirements and accurately determines the correct format and contents of the required deliverables. Promotes quality within project/group/section. Reviews design inputs in order to ensure consistency. Assists to ensure deliverables are in compliance with the specific codes and standards in force for the project. May contribute to the continuous improvement of guides and standards. May participate in and lead process improvement activities and assignments. Responsible for drawing control and historical records, utilizing the appropriate method, as established by the project. Demonstrates personal accuracy and drives continual improvement and change management efforts. Applies basic engineering principles and established design practices in developing complex design concepts and deliverables. Applies judgment and makes decisions with respect to deliverables and input interpretation. Capable of handling difficult technical assignments within an area of expertise and can provide technical guidance to other professionals. Performs design calculations, detailed material quantities and estimates, and records. May review the deliverables of others. May coordinate the presentation, delegate production design, or other electronic applications. May monitor production to assure consistency , budget and schedule of the deliverables. May program control systems or participate in other plant start-up activities associated with a specialized area of expertise. Coordinates with other design group personnel to review and exchange project information necessary for design development. May support field activities. Communicates project design requirements, progress and schedules. Responsible for assisting with identification of key client interests and drivers and may determine the key clients in some instances. Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns. Assist discipline or department management in developing and communicating appropriate design standards and process improvement activities. Identify training and development needs for personnel they supervise and may participate in training efforts. Recognized for expertise in one or more areas. May be assigned special assignments depending on technical expertise. Assignments may involve solving a particular design problem or participating in a design team focused on completing an assigned project task. Makes presentations and conducts training classes within a specialized area of expertise.

    Management Responsibilities

    Preferred Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will have 8-15 years of experience. Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred. Bachelor Degree in an Engineering Design Related Technology (preferred).
