Job Description:
The Regulatory Affairs division of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has an exciting opportunity for a Market Regulation Policy Advisor. This position develops relationships with NAIC members, insurance department staff, industry and trade association representatives. It is also responsible for providing primary support for the NAIC Consumer Participation Program, Consumer Liaison Committee, and regulatory policy development under the Market Regulation and Consumer Affairs (D) Committee. **This is a full-time hybrid position, in a positive and flexible environment. Residency within 100 miles of the Kansas City, Missouri office is required.**
Responsibilities Include
+ Provides primary support to the Consumer Liaison Committee, the American Indian and Alaska Native Liaison Committee.
+ Collaborate closely with the Assistant Director of Market Regulation to support Market Regulation and Consumer Affairs (D) Committee Working Groups.
+ Prepares speeches, presentations and supporting documentation for programs, as needed, and attends and speaks at appropriate NAIC and industry seminars, as requested.
+ Provides primary support for the NAIC Consumer Participation Program, which includes support for the Consumer Board of Trustees.
+ Provides primary business support for the content and functionality of the Life Insurance Policy Locator Service and the Consumer Insurance Search.
+ Developments and provides training on market regulation and consumer assistance, as needed.
Management Responsibilities
This position does not have direct reports.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Required
+ Bachelor’s degree or higher in business or related field and 10-12 years of related work experience.
+ Must have experience in insurance compliance with knowledge of state insurance department market regulation operations and regulatory functions.
+ Must be highly organized, demonstrate strong initiative, work collaboratively, and be able to manage complex issues. Must have excellent writing skills and be detailed oriented. Must demonstrate understanding of interpersonal dynamics with the ability to foster collaboration with stakeholders holding diverse expectations.
+ Must have one or more of the following certifications: AIE, CIE, CPCU, CLU, ARC, or FLMI.
Preferred Experience
+ Background in life and annuity insurance.
+ Knowledge of NAIC Committee structure and market regulation systems.
Systems & Technology Requirements
Microsoft Office Suite/365 and Connect.
Travel
This position requires regular, out-of-state, overnight travel in support of member meetings and events throughout the year. This includes overnight travel to three NAIC national meetings annually, related interim meetings, and professional conferences. Must be able and willing to travel to locations throughout the United States and with such frequency as necessary to meet the needs of this position and the Association. Travel may be required over weekends.
Compensation
$121,016- $128,000, commensurate with education and experience.
