Duties Description ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis; some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time.Duties:The Project Coordinator will lead the Project Management Office (PMO) within the NYSP dedicated team. This position is responsible for portfolio management, program-level coordination, and oversight of complex technology initiatives directly supporting the New York State Police. The Project Coordinator will establish and enforce governance standards, manage program interdependencies, and ensure alignment with NYSP mission objectives and statewide ITS strategies.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:• Lead and manage the NYSP dedicated team PMO, supervising project managers and integrating related functions such as change management, business analysis, and project governance.• Oversee portfolio and program management activities, including intake, prioritization, resourcing, and strategic alignment of projects to NYSP and statewide ITS objectives.• Oversee procurement and vendor-related activities, including contract management, LOIs, purchasing, and p-card transactions to support program and operational needs.• Oversee procurement and vendor-related activities, including contract management, LOIs, purchasing, and p-card transactions to support program and operational needs.• Serve as the senior escalation point for program and project risks, issues, and dependencies within the NYSP portfolio.• Coordinate with the Director of Strategy & Delivery, architects, vendor/contract managers, and business analysts to ensure integrated delivery of complex, multi-stakeholder programs.• Provide program-level reporting, dashboards, and executive briefings for NYSP leadership and ITS executives.• Champion and lead the change management function to ensure organizational readiness, stakeholder alignment, and adoption of new technologies and processes within NYSP.• At times, directly lead large, complex, high-visibility projects when program needs require hands-on engagement.• Mentor, coach, and develop project management and change management staff, fostering a culture of accountability, transparency, and professional growth.• Support alignment of NYSP technology initiatives with broader statewide IT strategies.Overall, the Project Coordinator will serve as a central leader, ensuring that projects, procurement, people, and processes all align to deliver technology solutions that directly enable the mission of the New York State Police.
Minimum Qualifications Seven (7) years of experience in project management, coordination, business analysis, or a related field, including one (1) year of supervisory experience.The following degrees may substitute for the general experience as indicated:• Associate’s degree and six years of experience• Associate’s degree including 15 semester credit hours in computer science and five years of experience• Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience• Bachelor’s degree including 15 semester credit hours in computer science and four years of experience• Master’s degree in computer science or related field substitutes for an additional year of experience• Doctorate in computer science or related field substitutes for an additional 2 years of experiencePreferred Qualifications – Project Coordinator, G-27• Training or certification in project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, Agile, ITIL).• Experience supervising or managing project staff, including assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and mentoring team members.• Experience supporting projects in government, public safety, or law enforcement environments.• Familiarity with procurement processes, vendor management, or budget tracking.• Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, SharePoint).• Experience preparing executive-level reports, briefings, or presentations.• Demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders, gather requirements, and support process improvement initiatives.
Additional Comments ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis.
