The Director of DC Operations are senior leaders at Bob’s Discount Furniture who play a crucial role in fostering a culture that aligns with the company’s values. The Supply Chain Director ensures that our Operations (DCs, Delivery and Transportation) operate efficiently and successfully, upholding Bob’s core values and vision while leading by example.
The primary responsibility of a Director of DC Operations is to take full ownership of their area, driving success by developing and guiding their team to achieve and exceed company goals. These goals include, but are not limited to, achieving targeted operating goals, EBIT targets, driving continuous improvements, profit margins, and other key specific performance metrics that drive the business forward. Additionally, the expectation of our directors is to develop and contribute to the strategic vision both for the growth and scale of the operation as well as the development of our leadership as we scale our internal and external growth. By leveraging their supply chain expertise, the Director of DC Operations identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and ensures accountability within their team.
Regular communication and collaboration are key to success in this role. The Director of DC Operations conducts one-on-one meetings with management teams on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, promoting productivity and alignment with department and company objectives. The position may require holding weekly conference calls with their direct reports (as well as targeted skip levels) to maintain consistency in messaging and goal execution.
Serving as the primary connection between the Home Office and Supply Chain intradepartmental collaboration, the Director of DC Operations builds strong relationships with team members, peers, and leadership to ensure clear and accurate communication. Their ultimate goal is to create a Customer First Culture, driving operational excellence while enhancing profitability, maintaining Bob’s values and commitment to excellence, and developing the leaders of the future.
This is an on-site position located in our Shorewood, IL Distribution Center.

Supply Chain Directors oversee all aspects of their assigned departments, driving success through strategic leadership, coaching, and effective communication. They create a positive impact both directly and indirectly by fostering strong relationships with their teams, cross-functional partners, and external vendors.
Required Competencies and Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
+ 10+ years in supply chain, logistics, or operations leadership with demonstrated success in achieving financial and operational goals.
+ 5+ years’ Experience managing and developing teams.
+ Familiarity with Microsoft Office, WMS (Red Prairie and SAP a plus), customer service experience, bilingual (Spanish) preferred

Work Environment
+ This position is primarily on-site based in our Distribution Center
+ Collaboration is key, with regular virtual meetings and ongoing communication through various digital platforms (phone, email, web conferencing, etc.)
+ The candidate will be required to travel to our home office in Manchester, CT for 4-6 days per month for in-person meetings, collaboration, and strategic planning sessions.
+ Occasional additional travel may be necessary for industry conferences, partner meetings, and other business-related events.
Physical Requirements and Americans Disability Act (ADA)
+ Able to sit, walk, stand, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch and move items weighing up to 50lbs without assistance
+ Ability to move throughout all areas of Distribution Center
