Summary:
The Idaho Department of Correction ’s mission is to be a model correctional agency, which is centered around the training and support of our staff . IDOC is seeking a Manage ment Assistant to join our Training & Development team, located at IDOC’s Training & Development Center in Meridian, Idaho . This position requires strong decision making and communication skills, a high attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task effectively.
Responsibilities:
+ M anaging and ensuring IDOC’s compliance with Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST) academy requirements
+ C reating, modifying , and monitoring IDOC’s training calendar for 2,200 staff, to include POST-certified academies
+ Researching, analyzing, making recommendations, and implementing decisions regarding IDOC’s training resources
+ Managing contracts held by IDOC for the Training & Development Center, to include a n upcoming building renovation
+ M anaging the Training & Development team’s budget to include monitoring balances, approving expenditures, and providing input for budget development
+ Drafting and issuing communication to IDOC staff and external law enforcement partners
Minimum Q ualifications:
+ Experience interpreting and applying regulations or policies and procedures. Typically gained from at least one year of work experience interpreting and explaining complex information such as policies, procedures, regulations, or laws including explaining discrepancies or having to explain to others how the information applied to their specific situations.
+ Experience planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating special projects. Typically gained by work or volunteer experience with responsibility for planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating at least one special project that involved extensive planning and action.
+ Experience independently researching, compiling, developing and summarizing material for reports on a frequent or recurring basis. Typically gained by one year of work, college, or volunteer experience that required independently researching, compiling, developing and summarizing materials for reports.
+ Experience analyzing information, identifying problems, defining alternatives and developing recommendations for management/administrators. Typically gained by one year of work experience where you were required to analyze information, identify problems, define alternatives and develop recommendations for managers. Management problems could have dealt with issues such as resolving staffing, overtime, budget, and/or contract problems, etc., where you determined the problem, researched files, reviewed reports, and analyzed different options.
Desirable Qualifications :
+ Experience managing complex records in a centralized data system
+ Experience c reating, modifying , and monitoring the schedule of events across a large organization
+ Experience in resource management & allocation
+ Experience managing contracts
+ Experience m anaging budgets to include monitoring budget balances, approving expenditures, and providing input for budget development
+ Experience writing large-scale correspondence and communicating with internal & external stakeholders
+ Experience h andling sensitive or confidential matters
+ Some experience with s upervisory practices and management practice
