Job Title: Phlebotomist Job Description
The primary role of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations in a medical setting.
Responsibilities
+ Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
+ Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
+ Decontaminate equipment and update patient information.
+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
+ Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly and courteously.
+ Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
+ Understand and follow physicians' orders completely.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens according to test order requirements.
+ Ensure accuracy by checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.
+ Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures.
+ Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
+ Attend annual department trainings.
+ Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to address inquiries.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Minimum Phlebotomy certification for the state as required.
+ High School Diploma or GED
+ 1-2 years of experience
Work Environment
The position is located at 14010 Smoketown Rd Ste 101, Woodbridge, VA in a PSC setting, handling over 100 patients per day. The working hours are from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodbridge, Virginia.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
