    Job Title: Mechanical Technician

    Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician for a contract position lasting 8+ weeks, with potential for extension or conversion to a permanent role based on customer demand. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the assembly of mechanical and pneumatic components of automation equipment, performing testing, debugging, installation, and repair, while fully understanding the Bill of Materials.

    Responsibilities

    + Assemble complex mechanical components per supplied mechanical drawings.

    + Understand and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

    + Use adhesives appropriately and according to specifications.

    + Install subassemblies with an understanding of materials and tolerances.

    + Apply torque sequences and use arbor press correctly.

    + Plan and execute the order of operations for assembly processes.

    + Install and set up sensors, including proximity sensors.

    + Identify and troubleshoot mechanical and pneumatic problems, implementing solutions.

    + Plan assembly processes to optimize logical assembly, available parts, and resources for on-time delivery and cost efficiency.

    + Determine and assemble required pneumatic components as per diagrams.

    + Interpret pneumatic diagrams and route wiring/tubing.

    + Set up pneumatic flow controls.

    + Machine mechanical components using conventional and CNC tools, including manual machining with lathes, mills, and drills.

    + Perform intermediate measurements with indicators and micrometers.

    + Collaborate with engineering to resolve design problems.

    + Drive to customer facilities for installation or service work and to vendors for part procurement.

    + Understand and utilize Bill of Material structure for part determination and tracking.

    + Create mechanical sketches and mark modifications on existing drawings.

    + Assist in debugging production phases, including modifying and reassembling components.

    + Inspect incoming parts for quality and conformance.

    + Assist Controls Technicians with the mounting of electrical components.

    Essential Skills

    + Excellent mechanical aptitude.

    + Knowledge of pneumatic control and common devices.

    + Proficient documentation skills.

    + Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic drawings, diagrams, and schematics.

    + Skilled in using basic hand and power tools.

    + Basic knowledge of machine shop practices using conventional and CNC tools.

    + Ability to use CAD systems like SolidWorks, Cadkey, AutoCAD, and Inventor.

    + Proficiency in using PCs for word processing, internet navigation, and internal systems.

    + Capability to follow oral or handwritten instructions.

    + Ability to work independently and in a team.

    + Good interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.

    + Fluency in reading, writing, and understanding English.

    + Knowledge of general safety standards.

    + 2+ years of experience as a mechanical technician with recent high-tech mechanical assembly experience required.

    + High school diploma or equivalent required.

    + Controls experience is a plus but not mandatory.

    This role operates in a state-of-the-art facility with a climate-controlled production floor. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM, plus overtime, totaling 55 hours per week, including 5 hours on Saturdays. The environment is equipped with modern amenities, including a pleasant cafeteria.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $29.00/hr.
