Job Summary
The Industrial Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the uninterrupted operation of heavy industrial manufacturing equipment and facility infrastructure. This position primarily supports production machinery used in forging, heat treating, assembly, and warehouse systems by performing comprehensive maintenance, repairs, and installations. The technician will contribute to a safe and efficient work environment by maintaining both equipment and general facilities including overhead doors, plumbing, lighting, and ventilation systems.
This role is designated for the second shift, operating Monday through Friday from 2pm to 10pm, providing consistent support to production activities during these hours.
Primary Duties
+ Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components on various industrial equipment including but not limited to furnaces, punch presses, shears, conveyors, and cooling fans to maximize operational uptime.
+ Perform skilled welding, plasma cutting, and acetylene torch cutting to fabricate and repair equipment parts, ensuring structural integrity and functionality.
+ Disassemble and methodically rebuild industrial machinery such as shears, presses, and conveyors to refurbish or upgrade equipment as needed.
+ Lead and support equipment relocation projects, coordinating safe rigging, transport, and reinstallation including setup of necessary electrical and air supply services.
+ Operate machine shop tools and equipment such as saws, drills, milling machines, and lathes, along with handheld implements like drills, saws, jacks, and hoists to fabricate parts or perform onsite adjustments.
+ Operate mobile material handling equipment including forklifts, reach trucks, and scissor lifts to access equipment positioned at elevated locations up to 25 feet for maintenance, repair, or installation tasks.
+ Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on both machinery and facility systems, documenting service records diligently to track equipment performance and identify trends needing attention.
+ Collaborate with other maintenance and production teams to ensure smooth handoffs and minimize downtime during maintenance activities.
+ Adhere strictly to all workplace safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times, promoting a culture of safety and compliance.
Qualifications
+ Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting and repairing industrial mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, particularly within heavy manufacturing equipment like presses, furnaces, and conveyor systems.
+ Hands-on experience with AC/DC motor drives, Allen Bradley PLCs for automation control, and familiarity with personal computers to support troubleshooting and system adjustments.
+ Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics, and hydraulic diagrams to accurately diagnose issues and execute repairs.
+ Proficient in machine shop practices including metal fabrication, welding, and use of precision tools for parts manufacturing and repair.
+ Thorough understanding of industrial electrical systems and control panels, with experience in identifying electrical faults and implementing corrective measures.
+ Strong commitment to safety standards and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented industrial environment.
Education / Experience
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required to qualify for this role. Candidates with additional technical certifications, vocational training, or an associate degree in industrial maintenance, electrical technology, or a related field will be preferred and considered favorably. Relevant hands-on experience in industrial maintenance within heavy manufacturing environments is highly advantageous.
