As a Staff Mechanical Engineer on Stryker’s Neurosurgical New Product Development team, you will play a key role in designing and developing innovative medical devices that enhance patient care globally. This position supports the Integrated Systems & Smart Accessories team within the Neurosurgical business unit, focusing on the development of Stryker’s next-generation Highspeed Drill Platform. You’ll be involved throughout the entire product development cycle—from concept through launch—collaborating with cross-functional R&D teams to deliver high-quality, impactful solutions using sound engineering practices.

You will need to live within commuting distance to our Portage, Michigan office for this hybrid position. You will need to be onsite a minimum of three days a week, with flexibility to work from home on other days.
What you will do
+ Design, develop, and verify components and subsystems for medical devices with minimal supervision
+ Translate user needs into design specifications and deliver system-level solutions
+ Lead prototyping and testing efforts to validate design performance
+ Identify and resolve complex design issues using sound engineering judgment
+ Apply clinical knowledge to author design inputs and support Voice of Customer sessions
+ Ensure compliance with industry standards and mentor others in design control practices
+ Create and maintain engineering documentation, including Design History Files
+ Collaborate cross-functionally to drive projects from concept through launch
What You Will Need
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical, or related field)
+ Minimum 4 years of relevant engineering experience
+ Experience designing mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies
+ Proficiency in engineering drawing creation and application of GD&T
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with CAE tools and design for manufacturability (DFM) principles
+ Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes
+ Ability to communicate technical plans to cross-functional teams
+ Familiarity with risk management and quality systems in a regulated environment
