    The Human Trafficking (HT) Outreach Coordinator is a grant funded position awarded by the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). The HT Outreach Coordinator will lead efforts to educate, engage, and collaborate with stakeholders regarding human trafficking issues within the context of commercial driver’s license (CDL) operations. This position is crucial for implementing state-mandated human trafficking education and outreach programs, ensuring CDL holders and associated professionals are informed, equipped, and motivated to combat human trafficking. The coordinator will work under the CDL Human Trafficking Education and Outreach Program, reporting directly to the Director.

     

    The incumbent will be expected to organize and implement an outreach and public relations campaign for educating Georgia CDL stakeholders and DDS CDL examiners on the pertinent issues of human trafficking involving the CDL industry in Georgia. This will involve research, creation, and distribution of educational materials, such as brochures, flyers and posters. The incumbent will also be expected to work collaboratively with various key internal and external stakeholders that are either affected by or will potentially assist the CDL community in human trafficking education efforts. This will involve meetings with companies that operate large CDL fleets, commercial driver training schools that train CDL drivers, major truck stop companies, and CDL examiners and Third-Party Testers.

     

    The incumbent will be responsible for attending conferences, seminars, and outreach events; as well as proactively planning outreach events.

     

    The incumbent will be expected to develop and maintain strong partnerships between the DDS and external business partners across local, state, and federal levels.

     

    Develop, implement, and manage educational programs and outreach initiatives related to human trafficking for CDL holders.

     

    *Create and distribute training materials, resources, and toolkits tailored to different audiences, including CDL drivers, employers, and industry stakeholders.

    *Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs, making recommendations for improvements and updates as needed.

    Stakeholder Engagement:

    *Collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies, non-profit organizations, and industry groups to enhance outreach efforts and promote human trafficking awareness.

    *Organize and lead training sessions, workshops, and seminars for CDL drivers and related professionals.

    *Act as the primary point of contact for inquiries related to human trafficking education within the CDL program.

    *Develop and execute public awareness campaigns to highlight human trafficking issues and the role of CDL holders in prevention and reporting.

    *Utilize various communication platforms, including social media, and public service announcements, to spread awareness and drive engagement.

    *Collect and analyze data related to program effectiveness, including participant feedback and incident reports. Prepare and present regular reports on program outcomes, successes, and areas for improvement to senior management and stakeholders.

    Compliance & Policy Adherence:

    *Ensure all educational and outreach activities comply with state and federal regulations as well as agency.

    Competencies Needed:

    - Strong understanding of human trafficking issues, including current trends, prevention strategies, and legal frameworks.

     

    - Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

     

    - Ability to develop and deliver effective training programs and educational materials.

     

    - Proficiency in data analysis, report writing, and program evaluation.

     

    - Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

     

    - Flexibility to travel within the state as needed for outreach activities and stakeholder meetings.

    - Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion

    * Excellent time management skills A pre-employment background check is required for the selected candidate.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Associate degree in Communication, English, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Marketing or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Three (3) years of job-related experience in outreach, education, or advocacy roles related to human trafficking, public safety, or a similar field.

    OR

    One (1) year of experience required at the lower-level Marketing Spec 2 (GSP071) or position equivalent.

    Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to those applicants who possess THREE (3) or more of the following preferred qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Communication, English, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Marketing or a related field from an accredited college or university

    • One (1) year experience handling and maintaining the security of confidential information and/or documents.

    • One (1) year experience developing and conducting training for adult learners.

     

    One (1) year experience collaborating with local, state, and federal agencies, non-profit organizations, and industry groups to enhance outreach efforts. .

     

    One (1) year experience developing and executing public awareness campaigns.

     

    Conditions of employment: Some in-state and out of state overnight travel is required. The selected candidate must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel statewide. If applicable, candidate must be able to obtain a Georgia Class A or Class B CDL with P and S endorsements within 12 months of hire date and Certified Commercial Knowledge Examiner and Certified Commercial Examiner within 6 months of hire date.

     

    The selected applicant must also be able to physically maneuver under commercial vehicles of all types to conduct vehicle inspections. This position may also involve bending, lifting, and fueling commercial vehicles, performing outdoor activities, working in inclement weather, working holidays, and working around moving vehicles. The position will be primarily based out of DDS Headquarters in Conyers, Georgia.
