JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under supervision, may plan, organize, or coordinate the activities of the Soil Amendment Program.
• Learn to review, monitor, and ensure compliance with the Soil Amendment Program area policies and procedures.
• The Soil Amendment Program is responsible for regulating any substance intended for changing the characteristics of soil or other growth medium. It does not include any substance for which nutritional claims are made, such as, but not limited to, commercial fertilizers, liming materials, or unmanipulated vegetable or animal manures.
• The Soil Amendment Field Inspector conducts site investigations, collects samples, reviews records, and product labels.
• This position oversees compliance to ensure that distributors and applicators of these regulated products comply with all applicable state and federal laws.
Each position is assigned a specific territory in which they must reside.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university OR associate’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND one year of related experience OR High school diploma or GED AND two years of related experience.
NOTE: The Georgia Department of Agriculture conducts background checks on all final candidates. The hiring of applicants is contingent upon satisfactory employment verification results, background, criminal records investigations, and motor vehicle reports.
