    Job Summary:

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Provide independent care of pediatric hematology-oncology and BMT patients in the outpatient setting, including the outpatient infusion service.

    + Perform evaluation of patients outside of CCBD scope, as requested by nursing staff, medical residents, and other providers.

    + Participate in rapid response team evaluations and respond to urgent medical situations as needed and requested by team members.

    + Participate in end-of-day or end-of-shift sign-out with residents and fellows, if present, other attending physicians, and nursing staff members, to ensure quality transitions of care.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO); must be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Continuous Maintenance of Certification is required.

    + Active Colorado state license and DEA certification.

    + 15+ years of experience in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant

    Condition of Employment:

    + Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado

    + Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

    + Active credentials at Children's Hospital Colorado

    _Preferred Qualifications:_

    + _Experience in pediatric academic medicine_

    + _Experience with patients on clinical trials_

    _Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:_

    + _Ability to effectively communicate professionally, clearly and effectively with staff and faculty within and outside the Section, Department and/or hospital._

    + _Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, referring providers, and colleagues._

    + _Strong organizational and interpersonal skills._

    + _Strong advocacy skills._

    + _Knowledge of best practices in patient safety and quality care._

    + _Ability to use the electronic health record to write orders and communications, including diagnostic tests, medications, care instructions, and adding to patients' electronic medical records charting._

    + _Timely completion of medical record documentation and billing in accordance with University and hospital standards._

    + _Ability to perform selected procedures including but not limited to lumbar punctures with or without intrathecal chemotherapy and bone marrow aspirates and biopsies._

    Adjoint Professor - ORP Retiree Faculty - 37716 Faculty This position is internal to University of Colorado ORP retirees.

     

    This position will be in the Section of Hematology Oncology and Bone Marrow transplantation (BMT) at the Professor level, working in the clinical service area of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/BMT Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD). The duties are in the Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant outpatient setting, which includes our pediatric outpatient infusion center, seeing patients across a range of diagnoses and conditions. This is a flex position with no guaranteed or required number of hours/shifts.

     

    - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.
