    Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems offer an excellent opportunity for a Staff Engineer Human Factors (25-341) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. This position, based in Colorado Springs, CO, plays a vital role in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

    Position Overview:

    The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital component of the Missile Defense System. It provides an essential operational platform that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively manage networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability that effectively responds to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to enhance overall performance. Furthermore, C2BMC is an essential part of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities.

     

    As the Human Factors Engineering Lead, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and executing the HFE Program while working collaboratively as part of the User Interface software development team. This role involves proposing innovative solutions to both existing and new issues and ensuring that system requirements are clearly understood and implemented in a human-friendly manner. The HFE Lead will also be responsible for updating and maintaining the Human Factors Program Plan (HEPP) document. The candidate must know about Integrated Battle Management functions for Command and Control of Air and Missile Defense Systems. Additionally, the candidate must be able to serve as a technical interface with current and future system operators on Human Machine Interface (HMI) issues and regularly engage with MDA working-level counterparts. The HFE Lead must coordinate efforts between C2BMC NT stakeholders and MDA counterparts.

    Essential Functions:

    + Support Warfighter involvement activities, including planning and executing Warfighter Round-Table meetings, participating in the C2BMC Regional Applications (RA) Agile Release Train (ART), liaising with C2BMC SEIT, and applying military standards (e.g., MIL-STD-1472 and MIL-STD-2525) to meet the needs of the C2BMC end users

    + Participate in Missile Defense System ground and flight tests or other user-in-the-loop activities, such as military exercises or wargames, to evaluate the usability of the C2BMC component within the Missile Defense System

    + Assist with systems engineering, event execution, and testing activities as needed to validate high-quality UI products

    + Preparation of test objectives, review of event execution and analysis plans and procedures, development of data collection plans and materials, and execution of testing the C2BMC UI during system test execution

    + Will be responsible for supporting C2BMC events and presentations

    + Developing and validating analysis tools for wargames and exercises, performing data analysis, and preparing and presenting results

    + Being able to communicate the designs to software developers and verify that what they build matches the intent

    + Experience in participating in Missile Defense System verification and validation tests, with the ability to independently and collaboratively develop test objectives, concepts, and architectures within the context of the Missile Defense System

    + Experience with **Agile** development methods, team leadership, task tracking, issue resolution, and coordination

    Basic Qualifications:

    Please include your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

     

    + A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Human Factors Engineering, Software Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 12 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 10 years of relevant work experience; or 16 years of relevant experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree

    + Applicants must possess a current, active in-scope DoD-issued **Secret** security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start

    + Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% internationally to support business needs are required

    + Experience in developing and implementing a Human Factors Engineering (HFE) Program based on MIL-STD-46855A guidelines, emphasizing software User Interface (UI) designs, objectives, and user procedures, is essential.

    + Must have experience in requirements engineering:

    + **Use case development**

    + **Logical architecture modeling of the Missile Defense System's Command**

    + **Control Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) Element**

    Additional Northrop Grumman Information:

    Primary Level Salary Range: $155,400.00 - $233,200.00

     

    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

     

    Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
