    Summary

    The Associate Director of Admissions, in consultation with the Director of Admissions, provides leadership in the development and implementation of the College’s recruitment plan to meet strategic enrollment goals. As leader of one or more major initiatives, the Associate Director is responsible for regularly analyzing the needs and effectiveness of programs and initiatives, including making strategic adjustments and changes in order to meet goals. The successful candidate will manage transfer student recruitment and file review, ensuring thoughtful outreach and comprehensive evaluation of applicants. This candidate will also support recruitment efforts for domestic & international student populations. Travel, plus evening and weekend hours, is expected. Valid driver’s license is required. Preferred start date is November 1.

    Primary Duties

    + Serve as a strong collaborative member of the admissions team; lead by example and work effectively across teams to enhance the execution of operations to meet enrollment goals

    + Develop and lead particular recruitment & enrollment functions associated with either the Recruitment & Outreach Team or Campus Visits & Programming Team

    + Conduct extensive recruitment travel, network with high school counselors and community-based organizations

    + Review applications for assigned geographic regions; serve as an experienced reader who assists less experienced readers in evaluating applicants for Skidmore

    + Maintain or develop technical expertise in Admission systems and CRM used in the planning, execution, and analysis of Admission operations

     

    Skills & Abilities

     

    + Ability to work towards big-picture projects and initiatives by coordinating and following through with small details and tasks independently and swiftly

    + Time management and organizational skills in addition to the ability to take on and lead projects involving other Admissions staff members

    + Execute successful programs and events that support enrollment objectives

    + Develop and maintain strong working relationships with on- and off-campus intermediaries who support recruitment & enrollment objectives

    + Effective planning, coordination and communication of changes and innovations in process and/or systems

    + Ability to lead initiatives, with successful collaboration within and across teams in the Admissions Office

    + Communicates and collaborates with diverse student, family and professional populations

     

    Qualifications & Competencies

     

    Education: Bachelors degree required

     

    Experience: Five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience in higher education administration or related field with a preference for candidates with experience in college recruitment and admissions. This position requires knowledge of and enthusiasm for the College’s mission, sensitivity to issues related to inclusion and access, a commitment to building a socioeconomically diverse applicant pool, and an understanding of the importance of engaging prospective students with the campus community to support complex enrollment goals. Demonstrated interest in and experience with strategies and technologies to reach prospective students a plus.

     

    + Successful communication of Admission policy, expectations, and decisions in a clear, sensitive and honest way

    + Ability to complete projects/tasks independently and as project lead, in a timely manner, while maximizing operational efficiency

    + Well-organized, creative, and responsive implementation and coordination of projects and responsibilities

    + Effective planning, coordination and communication of changes and innovations in process and/or systems

    + Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

    + Driver’s license and willingness to travel required
